the setting is just to do with the lnb (thing the cable goes into on the dish)
depending on the lnb depends on the frequency you put in
the older sky ones used the 11300 and the newer ones use the 10750

so the answer is no it makes no difference to what you can pick up
but if you have the wrong frequency entered you will get nothing

ah k. cheers. mine only works on 11300. Do you happen to know if I'll be able to receive any other signals on other frequencies (eg. overseas telly) with the dish where it's pointing at the moment?

no you only get what is optus d1 satellite
you used to be able to get southerncross tv but now i only get a test patern

to get other stations you would need to point it at another satellite
but unless you speak languages other than english or want some guidance from god then dont waste your time

Just updating my own thread so I know what to do when I come to do a fresh install in a few weeks:

Was having a problem where sound wouldn't play unless the file was recording at the same time. This codec resolved it. If this helps someone else then that's all the better.

Another update. I'm using TS files because I use the multirecord feature.

To get recordings onto a DVD, the steps are:

- Demux with ProjectX Portable, cutting out ads if desired. Produces an m2v and an mp2 file.
- Remux (?) with Imago MPEG Muxer (got this as part of AVS to DVD installation). Produces MPG file.
- Create an ISO using BurnDVDx2 (the GBPVR plugin).
- Burn the ISO using ImgBurn. (This is just the way I chose to do it).

It would be great if BurnDVD supported ts files, but it seems a pretty conplicated thing, after what I've been through this weekend!

Hope this helps someone out there (probably me in the future).

No worries. This thread is like the 6th most viewed documentation thread.

I created it for my own reference mainly because I spent a very long time on it when I first starting trying out gbpvr about four years ago now. It had very low WAF back then I can tell you! Now it's 100% of what we use for watching TV. I have to keep scanning the EPG guide for stuff coming up - I keep missing good programs and movies because we just NEVER watch ads anymore.

I'm going to be a late adopter, but npvr looks like its sweet now, just gotta find some time.

Crikey, just found this thread of mine useful again. The default LOF1, Switch and LOF2 settings in NPVR didn't work. Changed as above and the channels flooded in.
