Yes. If you ever felt like learning, this would be a nice starter project Smile

Hmm, would it be hard to do?

As I said, it would be a good little project to start with.

As a project it's probably pretty easy. There is no gui required it just has to be loaded with gbpvr, receive the IEventNotifications and update MSN Messenger accordingly.

It might start you on the path of writing other gbpvr plugins..

Ok, I was bored so just for fun I wrote the plugin.

See attached zip file (basic instructions in the _ReadMe.txt). There is no UI, so you simply need to copy the DLL into gbpvr/Plugins/WizMSNWhatsPlaying. You don't (and probably shouldn't) need to enable in the config program.

I guarantee it is NOT bullet-proof, and I really am not looking to support, but it'll give someone a start if they have the desire to have this feature.

Source code and compiled DLL included in zip.

There is some logging dependent on the WizUiHelper.DLL, easy to remove if you want.

Have fun.

Hmm, thanks for making it, but I can't see anything showing in the MSN now playing window.

Is there anything I need to do to make the thing work? I have done everything you said to do in the readme.

Once again, thanks for making the program, after a bit of work, this could be a very popular add-on for GB-PVR users. Thanks!

Configure Messenger:
I built based on a fresh dl of Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178.00. Once started you should click the dropdown in the <Enter a personal message> area and insure 'Show what I'm listening to' is checked.

Configure PVRX2:
The DLL I built should be copied to gbpvr/plugins/xxxxx/ directory (where xxxx is some name, you can decide). Start the config program, then simply click ok (not sure if this needs to be done).

Run PVRX2:
Then, when you start GBPVR as you play video or music, the title should show in Messenger.

If it does not seem to work, zip your pvrx2.exe.log file (found in gbpvr/logs) and post, I'll take a look.

Code:
2008-07-02 11:35:08.442    ERROR    [1]    Inner exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'WizUiHelper, Version=1.0.17.9, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
File name: 'WizUiHelper, Version=1.0.17.9, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'
   at WizPlugin.MyPluginTask..ctor()

You are missing the WizDLLs. Grab them from here, install, then try again.
