I have noticed that upon occasion, a scheduled recording will display in the pending list and I will see that it's recording, but later when I go to watch it, it's not in the list of recordings.

If I look in my recordings folder, the file is there, but for some reason, GBPVR dropped it.

I've had this happen ~5-6 times. The latest was an episode of "Burn Notice" on USAHD (channel 222 here).

I've only noticed it happen to HDPVR recordings - as far as I recall, it's never happened w/ PVR500 or HDHomeRun recordings.

I am using the rename_recordings plugin - is it possible that it gets dropped from the list during the time rename is running? If that's the case, I'm not sure why it seems to only affect HDPVR.

Logs are attached. The offending recording this time was Burn Notice on channel 222 - the name of the ep was "Turn and Burn".

I was able to add it back to the list using the "import recordings" button.

I would recommend that you replace rename_recordings with the new (and totally reliable) wizrenamerecording instead.

I'm pretty sure it'll be related to rename_recordings, so thats I'd try the suggestion above.

I ran the install for WizRenameRecording & looked at the readme.

Currently, my PostProcessing.bat looks like this:

RenameRecording.exe %1

Should I change it to something like this:

WizRenameRecording %1 "{show} {[:]} {episode}"

From what I gather, it will rename the recordings in the format <show title>: <ep title>

or do I need "%~f1"? What does the ~f do?

FWIW: mine looks like this

WizRenameRecording %1 "({episode}{or}{show})"

Thanks - I assume that format uses the episode name and if it doesn't have one, it used the show name.

correct. It works perfectly for me.

btw: It can't rename the file if it is in use (for example if you are watching the recording when postprocessing runs). In this situation, it correctly leaves the entry in the database unaffected. you can always run the program manually afterwards to rename the recording.

I haven't had an issue w/ recordings missing since switching to WizRenameRecordings.

A couple of questions though:

1) Since switching to wiz, my PC beeps every time a recording completes - I assume this is coming from WizRename...

2) Occasionally recordings do not get renamed (these are not recordings I was viewing at the time - i know it won't work with files currently in use) - wizrenamerecording.log indicates that the gbpvr database was locked at the time. This is likely what caused the original renamerecording executable to fail & the recording to get dropped from the list. Any idea what would be locking the database?

Thanks again.

1) comment out the rename command to verify if it is wizrename. if it is, perhaps one of the command line option is wrong.
or

have u got system sounds set to true in the settings menu?
or the old bleepblop plugin?
or windows sound events enabled?

2) possibly a plugin is locking the db but it would be very difficult to say which one. You will have to remove the plugins them and then add them back one at a time after confirming that the previous plugin works ok. I think others have restarted their pc in the past to remove rogue locks
