Hi,
JeremyBeckett Wrote:I had a bit of a break from GB-PVR but I've got some spare time to have a fiddle again.

I have so far installed GB-PVR and got the config to accept the capture device settings (with WinGrabEngine which has been registered) and ran the Radio Times EPG grabber (which creates an xml) to populate the EPG section. The DBox IP setting is in place and the channel list imported.

When I run GB-PVR I see two things:

When I double-click on the small "G" recording icon in the system tray I get blanks in Capture Device #1 to #8. This surprised me because I thought I'd set the capture device up correctly in config.

And when I load PVRX2 I do get the EPG listed in the TV Guide but when I set a programme up to record (to the default file location c:\temp) nothing is saved. In fact the hard-drive light doesn't even flicker. I thought that this might have to do with the channel changer option in config being left empty, so I changed the Dbox channel to the one the TV Guide was showing and tried to record that way but there still was no result.

Is there a way to get this working? I don't want to have an extra IR remote for this and would much rather have a plugin. I did once find a WIndows ap that succesfully ran a desktop remote. But I uninstalled it and forgot to back up the files. Now I can't find it Sad [UPDATE: after 5 hours of searching for it I found the software a mere 5 minutes after posting this: http://www.dbox2.info/download.php?viewp...=5&subcat= )

I do have several other questions about setting the photo and video viewer up to see a netowrked hard-drive, and the posibility of streaming the DBox2 through GB-PVR so I can watch live TV. But those can wait for another day because I've got the basics to get through first Smile

Thanks in advance to anyone who steps up to assist.

Jeremy

you won't need to configure a channel changer or something else to switch channels on your dbox, once correctly configured, the plugin will do it automatically for you.
It seems that the config application is able to locate the capture source, while the recording service isn't. Please zip and attach your logs subdirectory and I'll have a look.

Thanks alibert. Sorry I haven't got back to this but I didn't spot that your reply was on a different page to my post. I've been happily editing my original post to reflect my progress.

I've attached log.zip to this post.

Thanks for the advice on the channel changer. I've set it to No Channel Changer Required and it works a treat. Who knew it'd be so straightforward? Wink

Hi,

regarding the channel mapping - there is no easier way as in the channel mapping section of the plugins' configuration form at the moment, sorry.

the channel ids are stored with a reference to the gbpvr source channel number in a xml-file named "DboxRecorder_X.xml" in the same directory you've put your dboxrecorder.dll file.

To do it via the config app (recommended):
- go to "Capture Sources" and select the dbox from the list
- click the "Edit" button
- here, you see a list of channels that are known to gbpvr through your epg-source, alson with a source channel number
- click "Settings" next to the recording source
- go to the channel tab
- click "Load Channels"
- insert the gbpvr source channel number of each channel you want to use into the list, next to the channel name loaded from your dbox

Hi again.

I did this last week, but they are all in the Radio Times (because that's where I got my XML EPG dump from) order and not anything that I find sensible.

Don't apologise, I'm a bit tardy on reporting back that I went through the channels list and assigned the EPG numbers to the plugin channels. Plus I've got a similar discussion going on in another thread with sub and I got crossed wires.

Essentially I'm now trying to sort the channels into a more usual order so I can navigate the TV Guide quickly. If I understoof him correctly sub is saying that the only way to get this done is to change every reference of the chanels in both the EPG and plugin channel list by hand.

Thanks for your patience,

Jeremy

Yes. I've moved on from my original problems thanks to your advice.
