I'm new to this... yes I looked at its properties, but I'm not sure what I'd be looking for in terms of making sure the audio connection is correct.

Post a screen shot of it with the properties up - perhaps I can tell something.

I just got back to messing around with this tonight and I actually figured it out! In order to have the Crossbar output the audio along with the video (I don't really fully understand but they're linked sorta), I had to choose the audio out from the dropdown, THEN go back and choose audio in.

Ok, so I've gotten some things working.... in a way...

1) I haven't figured out what a LiveTV graph should look like (e.g. right now I have it outputting to an mpg file and GBPVR works when I turn off LiveTV). Any tips?

2) When I use GBPVR to watch TV (via time-shifting) and then exit, I have to restart the GBPVR Recording Service in order to be able to watch again. It appears that the "PX-TV100U" filter is somehow confused after watching TV once, because all other graphs I've created that reference that filter as "destroyed/disconnected." From testing, it seems like GBPVR takes control of that device/filter and then isn't "letting go" of it properly when I exit the client (pressing escape, then hitting the Exit button).

Thanks so much for helping me out!

Preview graphs simply render rather than write to a file - some people have had sound sync issues and its seems timeshifting generally works best.

The graphs are destroyed when you hit stop so you issue 2 is a bit odd. If you post a your recording service log and pvrx2 log I can take a look and see if anything stands out.

Ok, so I figured out some of what is going on with this part. The graphs aren't actually destroyed/disconnected by GBPVR--it happens when I open them up in Graphedit AFTER watching stuff in the GBPVR. I believe Graphedit is simply detecting that a given filter (the PX-TV100U in the screenshot) is not available, so it disconnects all the other filters attached to it.

Now, the reason Graphedit thinks the PX-TV100U filter (video) is unavailable is, I believe, because GBPVR/GraphRecorder are not "releasing" it from their control after I stop watching.

My reasons for thinking this and the symptoms are:
1) The temporary file produced by GBPVR during timeshifting does not disappear/get erased from my hard drive as it ought to be after exiting GBPVR.
2) If I relaunch GBPVR after watching successfully and then try to watch TV again, I get a blank black screen. If I go to my recordings folder, I see that a file has been created... but if I play it in any media player, the file has audio but no video.
3) If I restart the GBPVR recording service, I can watch TV again (until I exit/stop watching, then attempt to restart.. then back to description 1)

I have attached a zip with two log file sets.

Trial 1 was starting from a fresh reboot, launching GBPVR, watching TV (via timeshifting using GraphRecorder), exiting back to the main menu, then exiting GBPVR. After this, I went and looked at my hard drive and saw that there was a recording file left behind despite the fact that I was only timeshifting, not trying to make an actual recording.

Trial 2 was immediately relaunching GBPVR after Trial 1 (without restarting the recording service, just double-clicking on the GBPVR icon again), trying to watch TV again and getting just a blank black screen, exiting back to the main menu, then exiting GBPVR. After this, I went and looked at my hard drive and saw that there was a recording file left behind that had audio but no video.

Thanks again for taking a look.

I'll take a look - in the mean time you might check for similar behavior with graph edit alone. For example hit play on a recording graph - hit stop. Then exit.

Re-open the graph - change the name of the file it writes to and hit play.

If it doesn't work or if the filters don't appear/graph won't open it may be an issue with the device drivers/filters from your card manufacturer. Assuming you haven't got the latest drivers and software I would grab them and re-install.

Ok, so I tried this and it works just fine. The graphs open properly, both the old file and the new (different name) file have video and audio and play perfectly.

Given this, I suspect this is a GraphRecorder/GBPVR problem since I don't have any problems working with the graph in Graphedit.

My guess is its in graphRecorder - I am not in the same town as my dev machine but try choosing your audio mixers rather than default it looks like it is erroring on that and perhaps it is skipping the graph release step.

Hey cV,

I have a couple of problems that seem to fit in well this thread. I have created two graphs that appear to work fine. I initially used WinDVR as this came with my card. Needless to say, I was not very impressed with it. However, this uses an exe.manifest file to initialize the WDM drivers when it starts.

My first problem is that I cannot use gbpvr until I have launched WinDVR once.

My second problem is with my recording graph. I have included the relevant part of the log file. When I open the graph in graphedit after getting this error my video capture filter has lost its connections.

Is there some way I can initialize the drivers in graphrecorder for before previewing? Also, how do I use the external recording method?

Hope this all makes sense!
