Here's what you say to convince her:
"Woman, I am going to the store now to buy an HDTV. Feel free to have a sandwich ready for me upon my triumphant return."
I hardly even watch HD on my big-screen and watch most of it on a 21" monitor. 'Course, it's near my desk, and if you sit that close it's a pretty decent size. Farther away might not work well.
Thing is, you guys have PAL anyway. That's only about 20% behind 720p HD. It's no match for 1080, but I have some 576 PAL stuff and don't think I'd be missing out too much if not having HD.
Since this is a reliability thread, I'll toss some of that in to pretend I'm on-topic. After the initial learning curve and experimentation that can come with using a customizable and truly international program like GBPVR, my setup pretty much does everything I want it to do with minor problems or annoyances that aren't much of a concern or that could be fixed if I put more time into it.
The main thing to remember is, when looking at other PVR options, what program is better, ...at any price? That would be a short list, if there would be a list at all.
Thanks again to all the plugin people, too. GBPVR wouldn't be the same without them.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:
