Glad you found it useful, it's certainly made my life easier.

I use Hibernate (S4) on my server as it won't stay asleep using standby. Goes to sleep OK but wakes straight back up again if there is anything alive on the network. Must be a bug on the motherboard/NIC. Using MCE-SBT to disable WOL stops it, but then of course, I can't WOL when I want to!

I never watch anything on the server, only via an MVP so I use the mvpmc dongle and the WOL functionality on that works perfectly.
GB-PVR v1.3.11, ASUS M2A-VM HDMI, AMD Athlon 3800+ X2, 1Gb Ram, WinTV NOVA-T 500, 2 x MVP & mvpmc dongle, XP Pro.

I have no problems going to sleep but it frequently (though unpredictably) hangs when coming out of hibernation at the Resuming Windows screen. The machine doesn't have to be waking for GBPVR to record, it also may hang if I use WOL.

I don't believe my problem is GBPVR related as there are many posts on the Internet of Nvidia users with this issue. I've tried many different drivers with no luck.

I read an interesting Microsoft KB article that described a problem resuming from sleep when two IDE hard drives are installed. I have two IDE HDs but the proposed resolution didn't work for me. An attempt to eliminate the smaller of the two hard drives didn't work as my partitioning tool had a problem moving data to make room for a new partition. That may have been caused by some of the massive file I have on my drive.

I haven't had any success with the MCE tool though it does log the sleep activity something the XP logs don't do.

System info:
XP with SP3 (problem also existed with SP2)
P4 on an Asus P4B533 with 1 GB RAM
Two IDE drives, 40 GB (OS and apps) and 320 GB (data)
HVR-1600
Nvidia 6200
GBPVR 1.2.13
My media server/video editor/card tester has an ATI video card but has 2 HDDs. My daily use PC is the same. My GPBVR PC has an Nvidia 6200 and 2 HDDs. I can't get any of them out of standby after they have been in that state for an extended period. Two are on a USB KVM switch and the KVM has a wireless mouse/kb. The GBPVR also has a wireless mouse/kb. What was the proposed resolution for 2 HDDs?

I just tried the MCEStandByTool and S3 doesn't show up as an option. Is it my Mobo that causes that, since that is onboard USB?

you may have to allow it under power options in the bios first ... thats only a guess though

My main, normal use/client machine is a pcchips motherboard and doesn't support S3 standby. I was quite surprised when my question to their support address confirmed it.
It's not all that old.

I've just started using sleep/wake again. There are a few things I had to do.

1. do not allow windows to turn off the USB device when going to standby
2. allow S3/S4 ACPI in your bios (I had to set mine to S3 only from AUTO)
3. in the registry you have to add USBBIOSX DWORD=0 (google it)

(both S3 standby and S4 hibernate work on my system)

Now I can wake from either my RW2 or my MCE remote. My RW2 will wake it up by pressing any button, but the MCE remote is more integrated and will only respond to the power button.

My system does have a quirk though, it'll only automatically go to sleep after midnight. Once a recording has started Windows can't seem to put it to sleep automatically - not so bad as my wife is home on mat leave. From midnight to around 9 am, the computer sleeps, wakes to transcode, wakes to update the epg then goes back to sleep until a recording starts and screws everything up. Oh well any downtime is better than none.

I have not used the standby tool yet....

Does one of you see/know the following problem

I use a automatic standby from windows to put the system to S3 standby.
Works very well.
Next to that I can use the single standby button on the MCE remote (through HIP) to put the TV, receiver and PC together to sleep. (Honey, time to go to bed)
I use SlimGBPVR tray to prevent the system to go to standby when recording otherwise I get a system pop-up caused by my NVidea DualTV tuner that a driver has prevented windows to go to sleep.
SlimGBPVR nicely queue's the request for S3 standby and waits till the recordings are finished to put the system to standby.

Waking up goes through the MCE remote (standby button) or through a RF keyboard connected through a USB receiver (any key)

And now the problem ;-)
When being automatically waked up for recording with the TV switched off and then switching on the TV the TV screen often stay's black.
When using the MCE remote it is not possible to wake the screen.
When using the RF keyboard I can get a mouse prompt but still a black screen.
The only way to get something usefull is CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill PVRX2.exe
Then there is the windows desktop and with the windows button on the MCE remote I restart PVRX2.
Using a button on the remote (through HIP) to kill PVRX2, setting the screen to another resolution, set the screen to the right resolution and restarting PVRX2 does not bring back the screen.

You can understand that my wife can NOT accept this kind of illogical behavior Smile
Anyone that has a clue?

I am now trying to first kill PVRX2 before manually putting all the systems to standby.

When the TV is switched on before the PC is brought out of S3 there is never (I think) any problem.

Not exactly the problems I'm having, but....on my test machine I've installed pvrx2 and I've been having the problem where it says that the renderer is not available or something like that. Others have reported this problem. As a result, I am still hesitant to upgrade - although this could be because of onboard video which my production machine would not be using.

A solution which I haven't tried but should work might be to close pvrx2 before it goes into standby and load it back when it comes out of standby. I think the SBT can do that. I think in your case you might have to use the power button to first close pvrx2 then send it to sleep as you normally do.

If you are using onboard video, I've seen the option to force video refresh in my bios though I've never tested it. Also could it be that since the TV is turned off that your tv-out doesn't detect the tv? I've never had this problem but always thought that it might be a cause of problems for people. Simple test would be to keep the tv on for a night.

I have a pcchips m811 on 2 computers. After searching Google a bit, I confirmed there are other mobo's that don't support S3. That must also be the reason HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb doesn't exist in my registry. Sad
I wasn't able to wake it with WOL either. I am going to try WakeOnLanGui
