General DVB question. Hope someone knows.

When a broadcaster changes the transponder that a channel is broadcast on, it has to send some sort of notification down to the IRD (receiver) so that when the user tries to go to that channel, it goes to the right place.

Does anyone know what that mechanism is, what it looks like, and how we can adapt it to make it such that our channel lists "autoupdate" just like the IRDs does?

DVB has an official mechanism for doing this, but GB-PVR doesnt implement support for it - it wasnt worth the hassle. GB-PVR does implement support for dynamically handling changes to the stream PIDs if the channel is changed within the same transponder.

Digital Cable in the US doesnt have an official way of doing this, and is instead left up to the broadcaster to user their own proprietary mechanism.

From memory it happens via the 'linkage descriptor'.
