Which card would you recommend?

Should support Freeview HD, Terrestial in NZ.
Should have a S-Video + analogue sound input for sky, so it needs to have a onboard hardware mpeg2 encoder.

(It's really not clear to me if the Hauppage HVR2200 i was considering supports high def or not.)

The HVR2200 does meet those requirements, and is probably a good choice.

Sub do you know if the HVR2200 can record the following combinations?
2 DVB-T channels at once?
1 Analogue and 1 DVB-T at once?
2 Analogue at once?

I mean if it a proper dual tuner line the PVR500??

I'm fairly sure thats is the case. ie, two tuner, each of which can be for either analog or DVB-T.

I just built a new box with HVR2200 in it, so I hope to be able to test tomorrow morning and let you know, since this is also something I planned to do.

Hi psycik, I know it's been some time but I got around to testing this.
Recording 2 DVB-T channels at once - ok.
Recording 1 DVB-T channel while watching another - ok.

Then this is where the problems started.
Recording 1 DVB-T channel, tried watching an Analog - PVRX2 hung. Mouse-over still activated OSD, but pvrx2 would not react to escape, right-click or whatever.

Here's my setup: Using the HVR2200, with two DVB-T capture sources set up (device 1, device 2). I only had 1 analog capture device set up (device #1, which I presumed didn't overlap with the digital devices... but I could be wrong) because I didn't envisage using the analog channels as much as the digital.
So I added a second analog capture (device #2) but when recording 1 DVB-T channel and trying to watch an analog, PVRX2 still hangs. I thought it'd look for a free device but maybe it doesn't. I also found that if I'm recording two DVB-T channels and try watching an analog channel, it hangs.
[That last example seems to be a real problem - what say you don't realise someone has scheduled two different things to record, you come along to watch a program and instead of being told there are no free devices, the PVRX2 hangs??]

Anyway, I thought I'd lose everything and delete all my capture sources (nothing better to do Rolleyes ). Now I find I can record an analog channel and watch a digital one. And vice-versa! Huh?!? I've just re-added everything so it should have been doing what it was before. So things seem to have improved there, but if I try to record 1 analog channel and watch another analog channel, I get told there is no device available. Huh?

This all seems a little temperamental and tricky...

There is also another problem with adding the second analog device but I'll post a separate message...

I think I know why this might of occurred. Reproducing the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll check.

I'll try this tonight. Things seem to be moving in the right direction now that I've wiped the slate clean and put in all channels again.
But I think pvrx2 still hangs if I'm recording two digital channels (and don't realise 2 are in progress) and I try to watch an analog... but it may be my blunder, I need to check. If it does fail I'll post logs...

Yeah, ran a quick test this morning. Two digital channels busy recording and I come along, go to the PVRX2 TV Guide and try to watch an analog channel. PVRX2 hangs (except the OSD keeps working!) - logs attached.
