Hi, I'm in NZ. I just use the freeview EPG off the satellite - default settings. I'm finding that it fails once every 1-2 weeks. When I check the guide because something failed to record, all the timeslots just say "no data" (or something similar ... sorry, my system is in use at the moment so I can't look.) When I update the guide manually from within GBPVR it works fine.

Any clues as to why it keeps failing? Is there any way of being notified (eg sending me an email) when the EPG is empty?

Cheers
Julian.

Try this link:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG

It contains lots of good information. Check the section on how to configure automatic updates.

Zip and attach the logs for a few days and I'll take a look at what happens at the EPG update time.

Was the machine switched on at the time the EPG update was supposed to occur?

I'll get the logs on here in the next couple of days. Yes, I never turn it off.

Cheers.

You may have been hit by the Olympics - I've had the epg fail a couple of times too, but remembered that the epg doesn't download if the dvb card is already in use. I suspect a couple of early-morning recordings occurred during my scheduled download period. Not sure what can be done about this except maybe get dvbtoxml not to overwrite the listings if the card is in use, then dvbtoxml could be scheduled for a couple of times a day and at least one of them should work.

cheers,

tieke

Yep, that certainly could be the case. If the dvb-s device is in use at the time the EPG update is scheduled, then you wont get an xmltv file.

Have just now found the guide is empty. Logs attached. Cheers.

Re. the above, I'm not using the system heavily at the moment - definitely not at 2am (nothing on in NZ at that time!) The PC is dedicated to gbpvr FWIW.

You've restarted the recording service several times yesterday, so the useful logs are gone, and the remaining ones dont seem to cover the time an EPG update was due to happen, so there isnt much info to go on.

Post the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log and GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log tomorrow morning and I'll take another look.

Wouldn't have anything to do with daylight saving starting last night would it??
