No sound in live tv mode. I can't see any one option that selects settings for live TV. There are lots of playback settings but I'm not sure what could effect live TV ? Recordings playback in VLC just fine.

GB-PVR v1.1.5
Hauppauge WinTV PVR150
XP

Edit: Just learned that I can't get sound from recordings when played back inside X2 as well as live TV.

I'd try another audiodecoder. What do you have selected there.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Tried all the decoders and renderers I have on the system. What is the difference between the two and when are they used ?

I'll post my config.xml but... is there any private stuff contained in the .xml that I should delete before sending. I don't think I'd want to share logins for the tv guide schedules direct or web port and passwords.

What audio decoders did you try exactly? You most likely need to install a new decoder and use it. Maybe this one: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

I've been chasing my tail and learned nothing in the process. The sound is now working but I can't tell what repaired it. It was originally set at system default for both renderer and decoder. I tried all the combos with no results while viewing live TV using Slimm menu to run the config. I ended up with both set back to system default. Magically it started several minutes later. Are changes visible immediately or is there some reason I would not see/hear the changes while watching live tv ?

Changes take effect the next time you start the app.

I'd leave the audio renderer on 'system default'. Just because you tried all the audio decoders installed on your machine doesnt mean you tried a good audio decoder. Some audio decoders are better than others. Some are complete crap. You may have only had a small selection of the crap variety on your machine.

As for posting config.xml files is there some data that should be edited out before making it public ?

To be honest, I wouldnt bother your config.xml. There is unlikely to be much of use there other than seeing what decoders you have selected.

This is for future reference since the current problem is solved.

No there isnt usually any personal data in the config.xml. Directory names are about as personal as it gets... so try not to have directory names like "mike's porn collection" Big Grin
