DVB-T Radio service not starting at start-up

Hi,

I uninstalled the DVB-T Radio plugin and reinstalled it but it did not create the DVB-T Radio folder. I got the 1053 error when trying to start the service.

I uninstalled both GBPVR & the plugin,then deleted the Devnz Folder and reinstalled them both afresh but the DVB-T Radio folder was still missing and I still got the same 1053 start error.

If you simply drag and drop the contents of the zip file into the C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR folder, it will create the correct files in the correct path. I don't understand why it isn't working for you.

1. Open My Computer

2. Open C: then Program Files then devnz then gbpvr.

3. Open the zip file in another window, select both the plugins and skin2 folders it contains then drag and drop them to the gbpvr folder in the other window.

If you simply extract the DVBTRadio-1.3.zip file into the GBPVR folder, it will create a folder called "...\Plugins\DVB-T Radio" - it's important that the path to the files has this folder name.

If you created a folder called "...\DVBRadio" etc. it won't work. To fix this you'll need to open a command prompt where the install files are, run "DvbtrServiceInstall.bat /u" to uninstall the service then delete your DVBRadio folder. After that, simply extract the zip file into the GBPVR installation folder - it has the relevant path for the "Plugins\DVB-T Radio" sub folder and the skin folders etc.

The DVB-T Radio service now starts.

The program scans for the radio channels and displays 25 channels in 5 rows of 5.

Strangely,they do not display the radio logos which I have put in the C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\media\RadioLogos folder. Is this the right folder?

Also some of the channels are displayed as "unknown". They appear to be the BBC channels plus one or two others, about 11 in total.

However, I can play the channels that are named which is encouraging.

Postscript:

Managed to get the logos working on the named channels by putting the logos in the ChannelLogo folder with the TV Logos, but am puzzled why the program does not recognize the BBC Logos which are in the same folder.

I've also found that the "unknown" channels can play despite not having the logos.

Yes, this has happened to various people (including myself) in the past.

At certain times of the day it can't identify some channel names even though it knows the channels are there. Could you zip and attach your DvbtrServiceMessenger.log please?

To force a rescan (normally more successful when done in the evening) do the following...

1. Exit pvrx2 (if it's running)
2. Stop the DVB-T Radio Service
3. Copy the 'empty' "DVB-T Radio.db3" (from the download zip file) over your existing DB3 file
4. Start the DVB-T Radio Service

When you next go in to the plugin it will prompt to rescan.

Tried this about 4 times today but even the best effort in the evening only got 14 of the 25 available channels.

Just wondering if the program is having difficulty recognising the radio logo files.

Is there any way to force a logo onto an "unknown" channel please?

Or is there a way to check that the filenames of the logo files match what the program is trying to load please?

The logo files are purely a GUI issue and have nothing to do with showing the correct channel name.

If a channel is showing as 'unknown', it means the scan was unable to extract the channel name from the DVB-T stream - this isn't linked to the logos which are simply pretty pictures. If it finds the correct name in the stream, it'll find the correct logo file.

Again, if you zip and attach your DvbtrServiceMessenger.log file, I'll take a look at it to see if there's a reason why it seems to be a consistent problem for you. If I can identify the problem, I'll be able to modify my code to prevent it happening to anyone in the future.

Strange - it is actually finding the channel names but it's not linking them with the services. It looks like a bug in my code rather than a problem in the broadcast stream. Embarrassing but at least I should be able to fix it when I find it.
