Newbie question

I have a video capture card with TV input. I have the software to watch tv through my regular cable but it is jumpy and keeps crashing.

I have GB-PVR installed and get the live TV to highlight but when I click on it nothing happens. Can someone tell me how to set up GB-PVR to show my tv feed that is broadcadst on Channel 3 (NTSC).

What video capture card do you have?

Have you setup a capture source for the card?

It is a Kworld TV tuner Video Capture Card VS TV 883 DVR.

It worked fine with the trial version of Cyberlink Power Cinema.

I'm pretty sure that device isnt compatible with GB-PVR. It lacks the required hardware MPEG2 - sorry.

Here are the specs and MPEG-2 is listed as the Video Format.
I bought from Newegg and copied from their site.

Unfortunately that requires software encoding though, and GB-PVR only works with devices that have hardware MPEG2 encoding.

What cards would have the MPEG2 for hardware and also be able to capture video and audio from a VCR via s-video or composite.

What do I need to look for. I usually buy from Newegg.com

Popular cards today are cards like the Hauppauge HVR1600/HVR1800/HVR2200. These have hardware encoder and can recording from svideo/composite.

Do you know of a shareware program to watch live tv using my existing tv card, (See previous post), to hold me over until I can upgrade my tv/capture card?

Also if I don't go with one of the three you listed, is there a way to know if the MPEG-2 is hardware encoded from the specs?

Sorry, I dont know.

They'll often mention it in the specs.
