Build an HD PVR?

Hello,

I would like to build an HD PVR. I am looking at using my existing computer and mainly need to get a capture card. I have Direct TV ad would like to be able to record my shows when i am away on the weekends. It connects to my TV via HDMI cable. Is there a card i can use for this project that is compatible with GBPVR?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I can't help with the DirectTV part, but I record over-the-air HD broadcasts using a couple of Hauppauge HVR-1600 dual tuner cards. Using GBPVR, I can record two HD digital channels and two SD analog channels at the same time.

I use a Tvix M-4000P network media player to watch the shows I have recorded. This keeps my noisy computer in the office, and I only have one computer to maintain, backup, and upgrade.

I'm sure the process would be similar with DirectTV, it would just be a matter of finding the appropriate tuner card to use with GBPVR.

If you are looking to record HD off the Direct TV box, I think the only option you have is the Hauppauge HD PVR ( http://tinyurl.com/4q2u65 ).
