Transcoding

I never use the transcode option but tried it tonite setting it to transcode to xvid. After the recording completed, I can see and hear my system 'get busy' but I can't find the file. I don't even see where the default saved location is and a search of my system yielded nothing as far as I can tell.
So, though I assume it worked, where might this file be automtically saved?

It'd usually be in the same directory as the source file, but with a .avi extension.

Guess it didn't transcode then.....it was the first place I looked. Can you choose a specific location?
But, if I choose to transcode when setting the recording in the TV Guide but in the processing tab have it set for 'no conversion' would that make a difference? Do both have to be set for conversion to work? Might just be a stupid error on my part, however, the system was very active for about 45 minutes immediately after recording completed. Guess it's possible it transcoded but just didn't save the file when completed.

No, it always does it to the same location.

There was a bug a couple of releases ago that left an uncompleted feature enabled. This was the ability to specify a transcoding when scheduling a recording. These settings do nothing. You can hide them by setting <ShowTranscodeDuringSchedule>false</ShowTranscodeDuringSchedule>. It'll be finished in some future release

The processing tab in the config app does work though.
