That would explain why the batch file hasnt completed.
But how can I tell what account it is using and what permissions that account has?

I am even willing to turn off the firewall tonight if that is what it takes to either identify this as the problem or eliminate it as the cause.

Its using the "localsystem" account. You cant log in to see its desktop. Its a special account used by background processes on the system.

If it is the firewall popup, then you'll need to find some setting in your filewall software to ignore those executables.

I didn't find anything where it appears to be blocking your program.

Rather than guess what setting to change I will disable the firewall tonight during the scheduled EPG update.

I just started seeing some similar behavior. I noticed this morning that I hadn't gotten an updated schedule since Friday. I have my update set to go every morning at 4am, and the updates for Sat, Sun, and Mon didn't happen. I output time stamped messages from UpdateEpg.bat to a log, and the log indicated that it never completed Ultraxmltv_enhancer. I found a hung instance of Ultraxmltv_enhancer.exe running under SYSTEM in the task list, so I killed it. No visible popups, but that's not surprising since it was running under SYSTEM.

I was able to kick it off this morning using the system tray icon and it did the update fine. I've had trouble with Ultraxmltv_enhancer throwing an exception if the source xml file has to much data in it, but if that were the case, it should have failed when I ran it manually.

Strange that it was working fine up until Saturday, and I didn't change anything. I will find out tomorrow if it was just a one-off, or if it's something I have to dig into further.

Yep, that sounds like the same thing. Seeing Ultraxmltv_enhancer.exe stuck in the process list is a pretty clear indicator of what process is having problems. Considering LewE is also using this, he is likely got the exact same problem.

dennit Wrote:Thanks. I think I'll add some logging into my batch file to track each time and date it runs. I'm already doing something like that for Parallel and Post Processing.bat. Then I can go back to check a few weeks. I'm wondering if it's not running, or perhaps hanging on a utility, as suggested by sub. If it runs intermittently, I'd never notice, unless it fails for 6-7 days in a row. That would roughly match my symptoms.
In case you misunderstood me, the recording-dump.xml file is created by GBPVR (or PVRX2, if you prefer to call it that) when it updates the EPG. It is not something that I created. What I did do in my post EPG processing batch file is to keep a history of the previous x versions of recording-dump.xml.

If you mean which EPG Plugin I use, I use XMLTV Plug-In.

See the screen shot in my original post. Is that what you are asking?

On the chance that the config.xml file will contain some information that helps you sort out my problems, I have attached it to this message.

Sorry, I didn't notice your question earlier. As these threads get bigger and more complex it is easy to miss a new post.

Sorry, but I can't figure out which message you are responding to.

It seems to be "responding" to my original post. Can you post the message number you are referring to so I can check it out.

I was responding to the post immediately prior to my post (#34 by nappysolo). ie, saying that Ultraxmltv_enhancer.exe is getting stuck.

Also see that Ultraxmltv_enhancer thread he linked to.
