I also have the problem where it plays 1-2 seconds worth of .avi .wvm and then just stops. I've tried a variety of different videos (non-traditional formats) but they all stop after a couple. Mpegs work as normal
Anyone know an answer?

Have you tried the newest version? It lets you specify an "mvp transcode pre-play delay". Make this slightly larger and it may help.

Also, if your PC is too slow and cant transcode faster than realtime, then dont bother trying to play AVI files.

How slow is to slow? I have a 1Ghz. Is there a way to test if my machine is capable of doing it run-time?

That'd probably be too slow. I'm just using the Hauppauge MediaMVP components to transcode to divx, and on their website they list the system requirements as 1.8GHz P4 or faster to play DivX movies. If you want to also use FFDShow for resizing or anything, then it'll need to be even faster than that.

I've just upgraded to the latest version and installed FFDSHOW. I've also uninstalled the DIVX codec. Now I can play DIVX files on the MVP. The picture still doesn't fit the screen but I have yet to try SUBs suggestion re FFDSHOW resizing the image. For the moment at least files play without audio sync problems. I do still have a problem with Fast Forward or skipping ahead. Skipping ahead stops playback and brings me back to the menu. Fast Forwarding works but when I press play to resume again I get dumped back to th menu. As an aside do I need to change any settings in FFDSHOW for GBPVR to take advantage of post processing or is the default install enough?

Yes, these are things you'll just have to live with for the immediate future. It starts transcoding when you start playback, and if you try to jump past the currently transcoded video position, its effectively jumping past the end of the movie.

As I said its "basic" support, and will let you watch a movie, but features like resume etc arn't going to work well.

Thanks SUB. Basic support is fine by me. It's just good to see this working at all.

Still having no joy resizing DIVX files. I have tried changing setttings in the "resize & aspect" filter of the ffdshow config utility but nothing I change seems to make a difference. Any guidance appreciated.

SUB,
Log attached. Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I'm sure I'm doing something dumb.
regards,
mvpaaagh.

Just noticed that changes to FFDSHOW do affect DIVX playback on PC but not on MVP even though I have checked "Use FFDSHOW with transcode" option.
