geforce 6200 & 6600 component TV-out

I see that the many of the 6200 and 6600 video cards now come with a component video out cable.

can anyone comment on the video quality?

is it comparable to the component video out on the XCard?

how much cpu horsepower is needed to watch recorded TV through it? (since there is no hardware decoding like that of the XCard)

does it support HD 16:9 resolutions for example running the desktop and gbpvr at 1024x720 ?

im using the component output on the 6600 and the quality is excellent, i get better quality mpeg2 than i did using my 350 card, and better dvd playback on my htpc now than on a standalone dvd player. i high recommend this card, its excellent, plus its really good for games.

I've got the gigabyte 6600gt, and it looks good, well, not that I have anything to compare it to. Waiting for my dvi cable to get here so I can compare it to component.
It does widescreen, and has custom settings with porch and all, though how to use that who knows. Has heat pipes, so no fan. don't know how much cpu.

auckland, ok i got it from pbtech in mt wellington. it was $318.88 incl GST. model Leadtek WinFast A6600 TD 128 ddr RAM. you might be able to find a cheaper one on pricespy.co.nz now (if you dont know about it, its a search engine for most computer stores in auckland so you can easily compare prices). just check with the stores first to see if it has the hdtv adapter.

for those of you in the us, a reliable and cheap place to get video cards is newegg.com 6600 cards are about $160 US and about $100 for the 6200 cards. although you will have to double check the images for the item to make sure that the card includes the RGB connector. it seems that not all 6200 cards include this. another thing to note. many of the 6600 and 6200 cards are PCI-express. so you would need a very new motherboard for this. the AGP versions seem to be abit less common.

thank you reven for your comments on the 6600. i'm hoping the video output on the 6200 is exactly the same. (for those of us with no desire to play games on our HTPC machines)

Thanks! I see ascent.co.nz have it for NZ$302 incl gst and delivery so I think I'll grab one.

One more question - is the fan quiet?

cant really say, my cpu fan makes a lot of noise, but i cant hear it over that.
