Hi Sub & all,

I was just ready to put the HTPC in the entertainment center and now I've gota small issue that's crept up . . .

I originally loaded GBPVR with a PVR-150 MCE card on Windows Vista Ultimate and used the Vista driver and had the timestamp issue. I switched to using the latest Hauppauge driver and it went away.

I've since switched to Windows XP Pro SP3 and ran GBPVR with the PVR-150 and the latest Hauppauge driver without issue - I have 23 recordings that used that card and not one issue.

I added a PVR-500 MCE (with the Philips tuners) and have just noticed that a few of my recent recordings have the time stamp issue, 3 out of 18 recordings have the problem and it seems that those recordings having problems were made when I was recording two programs at once.

So what's the fix here? I'm running the most recent drivers from Hauppauge, would the alternate drivers on the GBPVR Wiki be better although they are older? Should I try the registry fix?

I've had the HTPC hooked up to the TV the last couple days and have been using it both for timeshifting and channel surfing and so far so good! I'm really enjoying it and am ready to finish the project up, just need to quash this little bug!

I dont know. I've never had the problem myself.

I'd probably try the registry settings first.

I downloaded the registry fix off of the Wiki page and it seems to have fixed the problem.

I made 3 simultaneous half hour recordings and they were all fine, and I just made 3 simultaneous hour long recordings and they are all fine too. Smile

Sooo, it seems the registry fix does work with the most recent Hauppauge drivers - could someone update the Wiki? (it asks for someone to do that if it's confirmed they do work, but I don't have access)

Now to lift the lid and unhook the hd activity light - why would Antec put such a thing on the front of an HTPC case??? And why would I feel the need to hook it up???Rolleyes and then to put it back together and get it stuck in the entertainment center!

yeah the time stamp thing is strange it didnt show up straight away for me
with fix have a look and see if you get recording that are a bit longer than meant to be on the time line they will show as 1h10min when they are only 1h5min just currious if it happens to others makes no real difference the recording just doesnt play the last 5 mins

So far my recordings are spot on, though I've only made two sets.

My first half hour recordings were 32:59, 32:57, and 32:55 (I'm running 1 minute prepad and 2 minutes post padding). My hour longs were the same pattern - two seconds less for each. I figured that was because it took a couple seconds for GBPVR to get the card setup and running.

I'll keep an eye on it - thanks for the heads up!

you don't really notice it and its not all the time
doesn't affect comskip or fast forward just interested as you seem to have the same thing happen beforehand where all was fine then it just starts happening

When I had just a PVR-150 in system it never happened I'm aware of - I watched the programs and used the ff/rw without issue and deleted several programs. I have 23 recordings still on the machine made with that card and all are coming in at the program length plus 3 minutes.

The very first instance of the time stamp issue was the day I installed the PVR-500 and recorded two shows at once. The other time stamp problem shows were when I was recording more than one at once too.

Soooo, I don't think it just showed up - I think the problem is with the PVR-500. The PVR-150 is the first tuner in my system and the PVR-500 are two and and three. I imagine it defaults to using the first one which is the PVR-150 most of the time and only uses the PVR-500 if I want to record more than one program at once or watch live tv while I record.

I'll make a point of keeping an eye on it for a bit and I'll post back if more issues show up.

Take Care,

Steve

Most of us that were updating that page, stopped paying attention to it after it started working for us...

I would suggest (to everyone) that when you see something like that, it would be exceptionally appreciated if they would get access from blader_pm and then edit the page.

I still have what seems to be a TimeStamp issue, but it's my own fault when it happens...

It seems I get timing errors whenever I'm recording one or two shows concurrently, AND watching something at the same time. Yeah, it means my system is slightly underpowered and some say that my disk is probably too fragged, but I get around the problem by ReTiming the show directly after recording is finished.

I use VideoRedoPlus to retime, and it's much much faster than some of the other ReTimers... I have it in the PostProcessing.bat

Of course the real solution will be when the tax return comes in, and I get a newer machine, that will also do HDTV...

I just tried to pm blader_pm and it said there was no user blader_pm?

I love your tag line! Big Grin
