I have been running GBPVR for some time now on an old PC as a free-view recorder and have been very happy with it. So now I am considering building it into an MSI Media Live box. Has anyone had any experience with this system and have any useful comments.

The board is absolutely phenomenal. I'm running the 7.1 pre-out version and couldn't be happier with it. I plan on getting the 5.1 amped version for the bedroom as soon as my wife allows me to spend the money.

I just took a quick look on NewEgg and it seems this is a bare bones htpc system? It appeared to come with a case, power supply, dvd drive, motherboard, and remote control/ir receiver?
The thing that caught my eye was that it's using the GEForce 6150 chipset? If that's the case is it really a good deal? I'm thinking $100 for the mb, 130 or so for a case, 30 or so for a remote and receiver, and 30 or so for a dvd drive. So as a package it's not really a discount over separates? And the graphics are now a bit dated? (I run an Asus m2npv-vm with 6150 over S-VHS to a SD tv and works fine, but I've heard it's marginal on HD). What are the pros/cons as you see them? Just curious . . . since I got the current htpc running in the family room I'm thinking one for the living room may be in order! /Steve
Uhh, no not that one (at least what whurlston's referring to). The newly released MSI Media Live DIVA based on the 780G chipset (MSI MS-7411 motherboard). From all accounts, the bundled sound cards offer very good sound. The MSI MS-7411 motherboard is available by itself but it's a bit hard to source.

Just hoping I can convince my dad that sound from the PC can be as good as sound coming from an audiophile set-up.

I have decided to build one using the MSI Media Live bare bones PC.
1.5TB of hard drive. 2 Gig of memory. Athlon dual 5200 processor I will let you know how it goes.

You can get more info about it at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1003579  i've been watching that thread from march on (as soon as it was clear that the 780G boards don't have analog TV out), was planing to replace my current setup with that. sadly, meanwhile my current setup has gone up in smoke (board bootup beep signal indicating RAM fault, one cap in that area also showing a leak :mad so i had to pick a replacement board the quick way, have gone for a gigabyte 780G board with all solid caps... seems like i had a heat issue in my system, temps were all reported normal with fanspeed...what's sad: it's a promising board, still the same they built it with fluid electrolytic caps, if they want that board to compete with consumer electronics, they should better make some changes to that design: all solid caps for durability & maybe some other addons like built in support for IR wake up. if you like, feel free to forward that to Java Jack as critical input from a potential customer. i'm still considering that board for a second setup maybe next year (depending on WAF & budget approval  )

Do I understand correctly that the MSI Media Live DIVA 5.1 drives speakers directly from that little amp board? You hook the speaker wires up to that little black connector block, no other amp needed?

Obviously, a PicoPSU is not an option for power supply.

Is that amp board available separately? Or does it depend on something built-in to that mainboard?
