I have not seen the NTDLL issue with the other sources, thats what puzzles me, only the 350. I thought it was specific channels but that doesn't seem to hold water either, sometime they are fine, sometimes not.
I have not tried other apps other than the one supplied with it to grab the channel info when the scans failed.

I did not do ghost type backup, only the MS stuff. I would have hoped that either MS backup or system restore could have reverted me settings wise, and gbpvr is pretty much self contained, and I do a nightly of that with subfolders.

Searching the Hauppauge forums for help with my Hauppauge HVR-3000 which was crashing when scanning DV-S and changing channels, I came across this patch:

http://www.hauppauge.de/software/patches/ntfix2.exe
on this thread :
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=14983

The patch is in German but seems to have done the job!

Thank you for the tip, but I checked my file versions of Psidec.dll and it is the most recent one already (the patch installs the same version).

Firstly, many apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but, as a newbie to GB-PVR and this forum, i have not found anything to help me (and there is lots of new stuff to look at !).

I have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-HD-S2 sat card which works great with the supplied software and with DVBviewer and with Vista Media Centre, BUT i cannot get it to work with GB-PVR.Sad

It is not explicitly/natively supported by GB-PVR, but it appears that you can manually define the card based on something similar - is this correct? has anyone achieved this? and if so can they tell me how to do it

Many thanks.. Del

If you run filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created, then I'll let you know what needs to be in bda.ini for this device.

Gives a good start if you want to give it a try yourself. You can substitute filtercheck in place of graphedit for ease.

When (if?) you get it working, post details back here and sub will include it in the master ini file for future users.

When you go into config to add the capture device, if you put a check in 'only show devices detected in this machine' you should find that your
HD-S2 is detected as a Hauppauge HVR-4000 (DVBS/S2). At least mine was, and it does work.

Figuring that most of my problems were down to dodgy 780G ATI hardware/drivers, I bought an MSI 8600GTS Heatpipe edition which, for Pob's benefit, has the heatsink on the other side allowing you to use the 2 PCI slots too !!

Well what can I say, both SD and HD are smooth as silk with VMR9 FSE, no tearing, DVD playback works and as a result of 1.3.7 (I think) no more NTDLL crashes with Freesat/S350 in Live Preview mode. All is good in the world.

I can now experiment with DVXA again to try and get the CPU useage down but this was the best, timesaving £50 I have spent so far. It also came with a free Colin McRae DiRT game which is very pretty at 42" !

Glad you got yours sorted - I went down a similar path, gave up on the 780g and purchased a cheap ATI HD 3450 card. The idea was that I could use Hybrid Crossfire, but what I found is that I still had horrendous problems until the on-board graphics were completely disabled. The irony is that the 3450 card is, in theory, the same as the 3200 IGP. But using the 3450 on it's own works properly! As to hardware acceleration of HD TS files; it works perfectly in VMR-7 but not in VMR-9 - this is a known issue with ATI DXVA2 cards by all accounts, and means HA of HD .ts does not work in PVRX2:-( Well it works in VMR-9, but really badly).

I read something similar and despite loosing the crossfire ability, went down the Nvidia path to get as far away from ATI as possible.

I will have to try HA on the 8600, I have the Cyberlink PDVD8 working fine in S/W but at 70% CPU. I have to do all the registry tweaking to get it to work, from memory.

It is a real shame as the 780g board looked perfect for HTPC use when I started but it has put me right off ATI for at least a couple of years.
