I have been trying to set up my HVR-1800 again. I am only using it for a couple of QAM HD channels. With the live preview box checked, it only gives me a black screen if I try to watch live. When I uncheck the box, it does play fine until I change channels, then it stutters, but it at least displays. Recordings play back fine in PVRX2 and on VLC.

Does it need something special for the live preview mode? I can't find any issues in the logs but attached them anyway.

When it starts to stutter in timeshift (unchecked live) mode, it usually locks up and I have to kill PVRX2 and then reboot because the tray is also locked. I get .net errors that I have to kill as I shutdown.

[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND] The logs are just with live preview checked.

Make sure <BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnLivePreview> is set to "true" in config.xml.
Try changing the decoder combination used. I would start with trying AC3Filter for the audio.

For the stuttering, increase the "Live TV pre-play delay" in Config (mine is set to 2000). This gives it time to buffer more of the file before attempting to play it.

Thanks whurlston! You got me much closer. The BDASubmitTuningRequestTwice.. was false. I changed it to true and now I get a picture and sound but it crashes "PVRX2 has a problem...." as soon as it starts. In fact, it throws the error when the sound starts and the video comes up about a half a second later, everything plays for about 2 seconds and then freezes. I tried AC3Filter and FFDShow for the audio and AC3 filters. The problem stays the same.

Any ideas? I must be close....

Can you post a set of logs from the time of the crash?

Well today I fired it up and it work great in live preview mode on three channels. When I switched to the 4th it crashed with"PVRX2 had to close..." Then I restarted the program without rebooting and PVRX2 was unresponsive and I had to kill it using task manager. The working, then crash are in the bottom of the pvrx2.exe-1 log (and maybe others) The crash was at 7:15 when switching to wxii.

Hi Sub,
No, it is random. Usually it happens everytime I try to start in live mode.
Here[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND] is a screen shot from the crash. PSIParser? or is that just microsofts guess?

Could it be the driver or how I set it up? I have a variety of different filters that I have tried but could look for more.

The card records fine, but does not play well in live mode. If this helps, during set up, it scanned fine and I was able to map channels to the epg (the small mapping screen is black). If I ever go back to remap stuff (the small mapping screen shows the channel picture), it crashes and gives me the same crash message in config.

What differences are there in live mode, verses timeshift mode? I assume they both use the same mux, decoders etc, but am not sure. I know time shift buffers to the hard drive, does live do any buffering?, if so where? What things can I change that may effect live mode playback?

Thanks, I don't mind testing, but I don't know what does what at this point.

I also have a DVBs card in this machine. (not currently configured for gbpvr). Could that bda driver be messing with it? I also updated to the latest hauppauge driver with no change in this issue. The card does work in WinTV2000 but the people are blue on some channels. I also saw this in PVRx2 until I changed the decoder.

Under 1.2.13 I'm currently having no problems with running BDA for HVR-1600 QAM and BDA for Twinhan 1020a DVB-S. (I've only been set up this way for a week, but it's looking good so far.)

Great, that is one less thing to worry about. I blew out my dvb-s for a while while I have been configuring my 1800. Thanks.
