Instructions:
Item IV....you say from the Start Menu ..... should probably be a little more specific and say from the Windows Start Menu go to Programs, GBPVR and select Config
Note: Install done on Vista SP1 Business

Installer:
Instead of just a single text box for the MAC could it be broken up into the pairs i.e. xx xx xx xx xx xx since that is how it is displayed in PCH?
Install process (not so smooth):
Hung when downloading PVRX2
Turned off Firewall
Killed install
Restarted install
Loaded GBPVR
Hung when downloading Mayhem3
Killed install
Restarted install
Mayhem 3 installed
Install finished
Accessing via PCH:
Could not find share
Rebooted PCH
Could not find share
Had to manually set share of MVPMC folder on Vista PC
Could not find share
Had to turn off password protected sharing in Network and Sharing Center
Could not find share
Discovered turning off password protecting of shares would not take in Vista
Had to run command net user Guest "" from cmd prompt in Vista to be able to turn off password protected sharing
Was able to find Share

Turned firewall back on

Didn't know which to choose: GBPVR or GBPVR via Network Browser?
Tried GBPVR....didn't work....
Tried GBPVR via network browser....didn't work....PCH black screend and then eventually returned to PCH selection menu

Turned firewall back off

Turned off other GBPVR instance running on network

Tried GBPVR....didn't work....
Tried GBPVR via network browser....Was able to start GBPVR fine

Turned firewall back on

Tried GBPVR....didn't work....
Tried GBPVR via network browser....didn't work....

Turned firewall back off

Tried GBPVR....didn't work....
Tried GBPVR via network browser....Was able to start GBPVR fine

Turned other instance of GBPVR back on on network
Tried GBPVR....didn't work....
Tried GBPVR via network browser....Was able to start GBPVR fine but pulled in other running instance of GBPVR

Turned off other GBPVR instance running on network

Tried GBPVR....didn't work....
Tried GBPVR via network browser....Was able to start GBPVR fine
Some suggestions from above walk-through:

 • Provide either auto-firewall configuration in install or provide instructions on what how to set what ports need to be exposed
 • Provide instructions for activating a share on Vista including turing off password protected shareing
 • Provide instructions for handling the password protection not being able to be turned off in Vista

I did havewith the first installation the same problems today. Additional after Complete installation it runs in the browser but did not play any music. I try now to do the 4. installlation from point zero and will report it runs

If it work from the Network Browser you are close. Did you change the name of the machine on the PCH? If so you have to modify the GB-PVR since the install defaults to your machine hostname.

For audio you might have to reboot your server.

I am still in the installing process untill now. From Configuration i use Vista home at a laptop. At this installation now the first time it needs a restart of the installer, when the folder mvpmc is created. Than it runs without complications until near until GBPVR instalation was complete. There was a Windows message to stop GBFVR and i did. Than installer works and go on. Maybe i have a problem with the GBPVR and not with the installer from beginning. I did change my Network connection from time to time. Means i conect the laptop sometimes with cable, and now with wireless. The A110 is allways conect with cable to a dsl router what i use like a switch. The Laptop i connect sometimes with cable to this switch and now with wireless connection. But the Mac adress i think do not change Smile
What i was wondering the first times that i have 2 Music possibilities in the Browser from the plugin and from the original GBPVR. But i can only choose the plugin section and see the chosen folders at the harddisk at the A110. It donot find any Videos in the section. The recording with Musicscanner.exe work only for the Music. Videos are not recognized.

Without a problem finished now. But foe me interesting now with the Networkbrowser i can chosse from A110 the mvpmc folder as data request but the A110 answer that no data is found there.... I did add by hand the user guest and give any user for this folder complete access so it works now. But music i can not listen.... ffdaudio decoder hangs and stops...

Great idea, Martin. I ran the installer but just selected PCH scripts and Music plugin and Mayhem skin. It ran with no problems.

I removed a couple of the previous scripts and all is fine with the PCH startup. I'm trying to get a really clean, no ambiguities startup so my wife can get it going!!

@Lindsay I think the new downloader must be helping, glad its working. For WAF I strongly suggest adding the line from GB-PVR.html file to your PCH as a web service. In this way you will be able to say "Hit Source - Source - 4" (or wherever you put it) to start GBPVR)

@arztde you can't use the Network Browser option unless you actually use Network Browser on the PCH. If you use the named mvpmc Source you don't have to navigate as much. If you have a specific problem with videos, plugins etc please open a new thread, I'd be glad to help, but I want this thread to focus on install and not use of GBPVR.

I did not exact understand what you mean. But it seems i can not figure this out today. In the next 4-8 weeks i maybee do not have the possibility for access my A110 in a network. So i can first read here more a little bit to follow how its going on.

Anyways i did start to translte the instructions to German language here:

Danke! I will work on making the installer itself easier to translate too.

Bitte und Gute Nacht.Smile Off Topic for here. Al lot of people here like your VNC Client because they hope for a browser something else than the uncomfortable inbuild browser. Some hope is also Mouse navigation but it needs a new compilation of the kernel maybe. Any sugesstions and ideas i hope to transfer from my side.

There is a full VNC client in mvpmcx2, GBPVR hasn't even been optimized for it and I haven't figured out how to give easy access to it since it is pretty experimental running it from telnet. Mouse support probably needs support library from Sigma not the kernel, which is much harder to speculate on.
