I've just been playing around trying to get my TT S2-3200 to do DVB-S2, I got it working in DVBviewer and updated the sat.ini file, but gb wont find anything on the scan.

sooo...I added a manual entry to the scan cache with all the usual settings in but in the mapping window it still doesnt play ball. What is it in the scan cache that tells gbpvr that its S2?

Has anyone got 2 lines from a scan cache they could post, 1 from a normal DVB-S channel and the other from a DVB-S2 channel.

Sorry, DVB-S2 definitely wont work with this device in GB-PVR. Unfortunately I dont know anything about the proprietary method they use for S2 tuning.

Ahhh, bugger I didnt realise S2 wasnt covered by BDA. I have sent TT a pleading letter to give us the details, will it do me any good?

I have never had any direct dealings with TT so I dont know if they are helpful

If they do provide details will I be able to do anything with them, or am I reliant on you (Sub) to add support?

I'd need to add support for it in the code. If they supply the info, then it depends how complex it is to add before I can commit to adding it.

That's why I've been using cheapo dvb-s cards - until someone brings out an S2 standard I guess it all must be proprietary extensions ??

So no response from TT yet but reading on other forums about their support I shouldn't be to suprised. I'll try phoning them next week.

In the meantime something has been bugging me, how come I can get the chanel in Transedit? I started palying a bit more with it and noted the following:

I downloaded an ini file from Joshyfun and removed everything except the channel I'm interested in, in standard form it wont do anything its only when I start manually changing stuff in transedit that it will work, and this updates the .ini.

So standard .ini looks like:
01=12674,H,16935,23,S2

Once I get it working in transedit it updates the ini to look like:
1=12674,H,16935,23,4,1

so I started trying various combinations of pilot,roll-off and modulation to see what it does to the ini.
So far the one from last number (after the 23 above) appears to follow the Hauppauge system outlined here (I havent checked spectral inversion yet):

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=37256

Am I completley off base here, and have the wrong understanding of what TransEdit is even doing or am I on to something?

I dont know what the last value represents but maybee thats the only thing GBPVR is missing?

GB-PVR doesnt know how to tell your TT device about these last to numbers, so effectively its only using the "12674,H,16935,23" part. The last two numbers are needed for S2.

Just modifying this in transedit:
From
1=12674,H,16935,23,4,1

To
1=12674,H,16935,23,4

And it seemed all ok, so perhaps it is the same implementation as the Hauppauge S2 tuning.

Does the S2 Hauppauge tuning work (with a Haup card) in gbpvr?

If so, I assume that it only submits those values when the capture source is a Haup card. Is there any way I can get gbpvr to submit these values for the TT card the same way that it does for a Haup card?

The hauppauge interface definitely doesnt work with technotrend cards.

I haven't heard anything back from TechnoTrend (No Suprises There), so I have started to trawl the interweb for info on how to get TT cards to tune S2.

I found this discussion:

http://www.dvbviewer.info/forum/index.ph...23&t=20675

That seems to imply that it is only the conexant (Hauppauge) based cards that need all of the parameter bits to be set at the end of the tuning line.
It also says that the TT-3200 card finds these automatically (because its not conexant based). So in theory all GBPVR just needs to send the ,S2 label (like those found on Joshyfuns ini's) and the card should do the rest.

So how hard is this to do Sub?

Cue being shot down in flames!
