DavidJames: that's what ininitally thought this topic was about, check what PYDou says about it on page 2. It's basically changing the config file, and pointing your client to the same recordings folder. (and make sure LiveTV Preview mode is off)

Thanks. I got it working, but after watching for a few minutes and try to close GBPVR on the client it hangs and I have to kill via task manager. I've also experienced hangs of GBPVR on the server. All in all, not having much success. No complaints to Sub, it's not designed to work this way.

I found that with my pc it started to hang too, turns out that the culprit was the preferred mpeg2 decoder. Try choosing a different one and see what luck you have. I think i'm using the 'elecard video decoder' with the 'mpeg audio decoder'.

thanks tried that decoder combination and while the picture is better it still stutters a bit. I also think I discovered my hanging problem. I'm an idiot, I was hitting escape instead of simply using the mouse to return to the menu.

Anyway, for now, I'm going to use VNC to get to my server, select the channel using GBPVR and then use VLC on the client and browse on the server to where GBPVR is saving the live tv file.

Thanks for the tips.

Try http://www.orb.com its now free but only available to US. It has realtime transcoding of media and a web interface. Have not tried it myself but thier sample pages work well.

Quote:Orb takes the home out of home entertainment.

Orb gives you secure access to the digital media on your home PC through a simple web interface. Orb streams your content safely to virtually any internet-connected device. Just install the Orb software on your PC, then access your media anywhere.

Build 3 fixes issues that with configuration that were un-doing any configuration changes made.

Configuring the capture source used to save immediatly, then when the config app did the save it was saving the old values.

I changed these two settings:

<RecordingServiceLocation>tcp://207.246.177.226:7968/RecordingRemote</RecordingServiceLocation>

<DatabaseConnectionString>Provider=Microsoft.Jet.O LEDB.4.0;Data Source=".\gbpvr.mdb";User Id=admin;Password=</DatabaseConnectionString>

But i still cant get it to work. I dont have anything set up using the config (channels etc). I figured it would pull it off my remote computer.

Could someone write up a quick howto on what else i need to change?
My server is working with its webserver, my client is just a base install with those config.xml changes

Thanks
Kyle

Your <DatabaseConnectionString> setting needs to also be changed.

replace ".\gbpvr.mdb" with the path to the mdb file on the server. e.g. if you have a mapped f: drive which points to the gbpvr directory on the server, then "f:\gbpvr.mdb"

Opps ya i just figured that out, it is now
<DatabaseConnectionString>Provider=Microsoft.Jet.O LEDB.4.0;Data Source="\\207.246.177.226\gbpvr\gbpvr.mdb";User Id=admin;Password=</DatabaseConnectionString>

(i tested it with IE and it goes to the right file)

But when i run the client i still dont get any type of recording info or recorded shows. Do i also need to share where i have my videos saved on my server?
