Installation improvements

Well I'm having problems with this after a clean install using the new "Easy Install" method. I can't figure out where the problem is and I can't get GBPVR to come up at all.

Way too little information. Did the GB-PVR install finish ok and config run? I find these are flakey and don't finish 20% of the time.

The best place to start is to compress you GBPVR logs and upload them. These are in C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR\logs\*

You're right I didn't give enough info. The install completed fine but I am going to redo it today. I think my problem rises from the network browsing problem people are having. I can't open the network browser and see my workgroup or my server. I can manually add a share to my server and get to the MVPMC share that way but in that method it doesn't work. I am going to, like I said, reinstall everything and also maybe downgrade the firmware as this fixed the problem for others. Then I can see if this officially works or not for me.

If you have to add the share using an smb://ip method it might be the firmware, but you could probably work around it. I strongly suggest to everyone to use a guest share first and then get into the advanced configuration. Part VI of the dummies guide gives some links on how to do this for XP and Vista.

Yeah I've got guest shares going but without manually adding my shares I can't get to any shares through any other method. Also I can't play practically any video file through the SMB share I manually setup but if I go to the same share through myihome then it plays flawlessly so something weird is going on and I'll need to settle that out first.

Create a new thread and compress and upload your gbpvr logs and I will have a look. GBPVR doesn't use SMB to stream to the PCH by default, it streams http like myihome and the performance is comparable.

Regarding the installer, is it far along enough to request an option for auto-boot PCH into GBPVR?

I'm not planning on implementing that change myself. The trend as shown by the brand new SageTV HD Theatre is to allow a choice at startup by default.

When I execute the installer with all default settings the program hangs about 15 seconds in. The details read:

so apparently it has a problem downloading NativeUtilities.zip. My firewall is turned off. Any suggestions appreciated.

Still have got something wrong as I get a "Request cannot be processed" message.

My URL is:- ttp://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/GODZILLA:mvpmc/gbpvr.cgi

This is taken from my GB-PVR.html file.

I have triple checked the entry and can't see an error. I can see the underscore so I am sure that is OK. gbpvr.cgi does exist in my mvpmc share folder.

Sorry to be a nuisance.

PS I had to drop the leading 'h' to get the url printed in full. It is in the web service entry.

Martin, I changed the URL to point to gbpvr.cgi on the USB stick and it now works as a service. But using the USB from Media Sources is at least as good. Two ways to go now!
