If I use the latest release drvers from Hauppauge, I have much more luck scanning, but it misses lots of channels.

If I upgrade to the beta Pre-release drivers, it seems to find many more channels, but 9 out of 10 (maybe 10 out of 10!) times it locks up during the scan at different areas of the scan - I say it finds many more because watching it I see more populated in the various blocks.

Now, what's weirder, if I roll back to the release drivers, and finish a scan, and add some channels, I can the roll up to the beta drivers and it plays fine? It's almost like the API for tuning the tuner is different a bit in the new drivers. However, of the 3-4 channels I mapped, I can freely change between them from within PVRX2.

OK - just actually got a scan with the beta drivers - however, again, 86.3 is not there (why can't it be any other channel I don't watch, instead of ABC-HD???!!!)

This is so frustrating! Anyone else with a 2250 having similar issues with this tuner??

ARRG! Just locked up while scrolling through the channel list on the right to try to find channels I can map. Going back to the latest release driver.

I don't get a lockup, I just simply don't get any QAM channels with this card.
I booted to XP and used WinTV and immediately got 13 QAM channels (if found 343 but only 13 were 'kept'. I'm not yet sure where WinTV keeps this info so I might use it in GBPVR, but, I had already gotten QAM with Vista MC. For me, that proves it's not a signal problem but I've not learned much else.
I may treat myself to a HDHomerun for Christmas this year. Rolleyes

Check out this util - it's supposed to extract WinTV data and maybe import into GBPVR - make sure to save your current channel line up with the WizBDAChannelTool.

Here's the link to the WinTV extractor:

I saw that program earlier but I haven't had any luck with WinTV2000 only WinTV 6. Do you know if it works with WinTV6? I'll give it a shot when I'm done recording for the night. Can't miss Terminator.

Well, not sure of what that does, skipped it for now.

The first thing you should try to check is that GB-PVR is scanning the channel that carries 86.3. Does the Hauppauge WinTV app show you its frequency?

I don't know - I checked the .mdb file WinTV creates, but couldn't see anything that looked like a frequency in there. They might well be in the registry. That was my next step, to GUARANTEE that WinTV can pick up 86.3.

I was able to finally scroll through the found channel list and assign several channels. Seems to not be locking up now, but will keep my fingers crossed.

If I know the digital tuning string for 86.1 and 86.2, can I create a string for 86.3 from that info, or is it much more difficult than that?

You need to know some additional info, like the PIDs and PMTs etc, so really need to get this info from a scan, or from another digital tv app that displays it.
