M780 not tuning QAM channels after rebooting

After rebooting my WinXP running GBpvr 1.3.7, I can only tune, watch, or record the QAM (BDA) channels if I first startup and run Aver MediaCenter. Is there a way around this manual step. I have my system scheduled to reboot weekly and it would be nice if I could run a batch program to get the drivers for the M780 fired up correctly.

This works for some tuners, not sure if it will work for the M780 or not. Search your registry for "ATSCMode". If it exists, set the value to "2". There would be a couple of places in the registry that it would be so if it finds one, change it and keep searching until it finds no more entries.

I have seen the same issue. I have a small scan program Aver sent me to help diagnose at one point. It just pops up a confirmation. I put this in startup, then close the confirmation window when it comes up. this seems to set the card up.

I will try Whurlston's fix and see if that cures my Aver. Otherwise, the card has been just fine.

whurlston, My registry did not reveal any keys after searching for "ATSCMode" - do you think that might be part of my problem? By the way, this wasn't an issue with the prior release. This behavior only started with version 1.3.7.

No, I don't. I know that setting exists for some cards like the KWorld and Pinnacle but not for all. If the M780 used it, it would be in the registry. I don't have access to an M780 so it was just a stab in the dark, sorry.

whurlston, Thanks for sharing the hunch. I'm wondering if this might be tied to the issue where, with 1.3.7, I was never able to scan for all of the ATSC/QAM channels without the GB-pvr config program crashing/locking up. I think sub was going to look at this when he was back in nz.

I'll send it via email. Just put a shortcut in Startup to it. There will eb one button to start scan, but I just hit the X in the upper right to close the small window. Whatever it does, ti seems to initialize the QAM on the card in some way that the basic driver does not. Prior I had to strat then quit the Aver application.

I looked as well, and did not see that tag in the registry. Guess I'll keep on with my current fix.
