Not to take away from the work that Jaggy has done, which I appreciate alot, with the Blue Retro SHV skin but I took a stab at the altering it to show the new metadata in video library. I know there are some out there like me who still have a standard def 'box' tv so I thought I would throw it out here for you to give a try yourself. It might need a little more tweaking but it works well enought in my opinion.

Just unzip the attachment to the ..\Devnz\GBPVR\Skin2\Blue-Retro-SHV\Video Library directory. Make sure you back up the skin.xml file there first in case you want to change it back.

Thanks elbryyan I will use it as a basis for when I update B-R-SHV Smile

sub has an uncanny knack of releasing a new version when I am totally overrun with work & don't have time to really have a play with the new version let alone update the skin. I have started on the skin update & the BOSS (wife) has been complaining about some of the screens being to bright so I am muting them down a bit at the moment.

I have been mulling over the best way to implement the new 'slick' features & I have thought about a couple of options

1: two different skins as in the standard B-R-SHV & something like a slick-HV

2: different skin files (like I do for the three different TVGuides) but I don't know how many users would try out the different skins as they would have to manually change them.

No problem Jaggy, I didn't want to step on your toes or anything but I really liked the metadata functionality of the new video library and so I have had some extra free time and decided to see if I could make it work.

I liked the look of the slick skin but did not think there was enough real estate to have the larger fonts to be able to view it on my screen. I would say go with the different skin files. Switching out the files should't be too difficult if you want to try the different skin.

Hey! Pretty cool!

One slight thing - if the description is long you don't get all of it as there's no way to scroll the description text down. Would there be anyway to do that? Maybe make the left/right arrows scroll it since the up/down are used to control the file scroll?

Really cool though, for now I just need to keep the descriptions brief.

THANKS!!!! Smile

Here's a question:

Both the retro SHV skin, and the new Slick skin, have the same basic limitations. While I'm excited about the show descriptions (and the retro skin shows these in a larger font), neither of them allows for any of the other Video functions, and the one I use most often is the Delete option (I have heard others are missing the Transcode options).

For the Delete - is there any way to allow the skin to operate with the Kbd (delete on <Del>) or would Sub first have to build that sort of functionality in (I think I answered my own question :-( )

Thanks for the thoughts.

I have read that it is probably possible to add the buttons to the slick video library skin, problem is I am right in the middle of hand feeding baby parrots at the moment & that leaves me NO time to have a look at the modifications required (& by that I mean no time at all), the only reason I was able to get the main release out was it was all but ready for release before we decided to pull the babies.

Yes I think you answered your own question & I wouldn't be surprised if popular demand for delete & transcode didn't encourage sub into adding some form of keyboard functionality....but just thinking out loud that won't help me with the MVP's

Just for the record, here is one example of doing it the way I'd hoped - works great!
