I'm having some weird issues where sometimes - for the life of me I can't figure out a pattern - that the recording service hangs when starting certain Digital ATSC recordings - it never happens on analog recordings.

The PVRX2 screen shows that the recording has started under pending - but it never actually records anything - and any further pending recordings do not record unless I restart the recording service.

Attached are the logs from the most recent crash.

Any help would be appreciated!

I cant see any obvious cause in the logs, but it might be worth temporarily trying the TS Mux multiplexer instead of the DVR-MS one to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks - I switched it. It only happens about once a week - so I'll post back if/when it hangs again.

Strange - after I recorded something on the digital ATSC - the timeline is all wacky. It was an hour program with 2 min pre / 2 min post - so 1:04. The end time on the timeline while I'm watching it continuously changing - it starts at 1:23 and starts jumping around down to 1:02 or so and then back up again.

I applied your ts reader patch but it didn't fix the issue.

It is normal to get a bit of movement on the timeline as play proceeds. With a transport stream it doesnt actually know how long the file will be, so has to guess it based on the average bit rate. You need to have been playing it for a while to get an accurate estimate of the average bitrate. It usually doesnt take long (10 seconds or so) to have a reasonably close to accurate duration reported.

I have seen the same thing with the internal TS reader in 1.3.7, but not with Haali on older version. The timeline jumps SIGNIFICANTLY, like +/- 10 minutes, and continues to do so throughout playback. When you press pause then play, you can see large (several minute) jumps in the end time before the OSD goes away. Same if you keep moving mouse during playback. It make sit VERY hard to hit a spot with the mouse, as the Comskip grey bars are jumping around too. It also seems to affet teh ability of Comskip to start/stop on its skips properly.

I understand what you are saying, but I beleive the jumping around is of greater magnitude and longer duration than you are understanding. Like I said, did not do it w/ Haali.

I'll look into improving it in a future release. For now, you'll just have to get use to it Big Grin

I'll try! It's always improving, and this is not a hang, so I can wait.
