McBainUK Wrote:Have you thought about the number of items shown in the main menu being configurable or supplying options.

I decided on the above suggestion because it reduced the number of options from 4 per view to 3 (from the original idea). I felt it struck a balance between lots of graphics and formatting, to less graphics and formatting, to potentially minimal graphics and formatting on the main menu. But it is still fundamentally one view and I'm at a disadvantage as to what to suggest as an alternative, because I've no understanding of the coding side. My suggestions are reflective of what I can see and imagine from what I see.

Personally I'm struggling with the logarithmic nature of these options. At 9 variants for 3 alignments, other layout options would transform that into 18,27,36 and so on. I say this purely to let you guys know what I thinking, I do not mean to shoot down or discourage comments on these suggestions in anyway.

All these options are do-able but I'm probably at my limit for the monotonous/tedious elements of skinning and I'm trying to strike a balance between choice and too much choice. For both the user and the dude who has to put all those choices together.

I'm firmly behind the multiple choice of the CS, but trying to work out the spectrum of choices and how they could be handled makes my brainbox overheat Smile

Hairy, the CS_logo.png and GB_logo.png could be one file name Logo.png. Then it could be changed from CS - to - GB - or - Blank - or - some other effect.

I should have said, that I can see the benefit of having both available for independent use through out the skin and I wasn't sure how to make that configurable. Admittedly this would be very rarely used.

I'm 100% behind what ever you guys want to do.

Next up the OSD Smile

I've tweaked the system (screen below), settings and net radio layouts. I think that's all the default plugins.

I've also had a stab at the OSD, this one is tricky because I can't see half the elements for placement so I tried to alter as little as possible (if it ani't broke and all that). I've made up graphics and non graphics versions. I've also made up a new set of control icons (so we can include several colour variations).

I've attached the OSD formatting and graphics because I'd really like some feedback on this one in particular. As I said I can't really see half the stuff, so it would be good to know if it's okay.

I mean I can't access stuff like live tv, tv controls, timeshift, no signal, dvd, subtitles. My skiining setup is GB inside a virtual machine in VMware with no TV card so my OSD is limited.

And we're over run with Bears here in Ireland....... bears and seagulls apparently

Nah! Bear.wmv is one of the glorious videos Sir William Gates was kind enough to include in the installation of vista, worth every penny Big Grin

My setup is even less spectacular. I skin on an old laptop (no clue how to do a virtual machine with VMware) no TV card. I don't even think my laptop has what it takes to run something like that. I just copy things to my HTPC to test OSD.

It probably inspired a few google searches.
