Hello,
I'm having a problem detecting any channels in GBPVR with a HDHomeRun tuner using comcast digital cable. I'm only able to find channels when hdhr/setup/tuner is set to digital cable and application is set to atsc/remap. I'm limited to 68 channels in this case.

I'm using gbpvr 1.3.7 although I've also tried 1.2.13.
The HDHR firmware is hdhomerun_windows_20081208beta1, and I was using the previous non-beta with the same results.
I've set everything up per the instructions at http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5449

I've tried the custom application and gbpvr application settings the HDHR setup utility. Neither work.

Does anyone have any insight into what might be wrong?

Thanks

device number: 1 type: atsc
country: all countries
region/transmitter: manual tuning

I've also tried the default qam.ini and the one from the GBPVR...HVR1600 directory. Nothing.

I am using GB-PVR v1.2.13 (rolled back after experiencing problems in 1.3.7) with ATSC OTA on tuner 0 and digital cable on tuner1. Tuner 0 scan performs normally, but tuner 1 scan finds no channels. SCAN-4.CACHE is empty. I have followed the HDHR setup instructions in Whurlston's post on the Silicondust forum (with the exception of enabling GBPVR.exe in the firewall - I have no such file in the GBPVR folder. VLC plays tuner1 perfectly. I have tried both the standard qam.ini file and the one that was generated by the qam.ini manager. I have had the HDHR for about 6 months and it has operated flawlessly on tuner1 cable with GB-PVR until I made the most recent upgrades. Here are my bda.ini entries:

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1011F2C7-0]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
;TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1011F2C7-0
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

[Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1011F2C7-1]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=1
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner 1011F2C7-1
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Input0
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=Output1

Any suggestions appreciated

Using the beta HDHR software, you should set the application to GBPVR. You do not need to modify the registry, the beta software sets the appropriate values. Disable the dynamic tuner allocation. I believe this is causing issues with multirecord and I need to do some more testing.

Download the QAM.ini Manager from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38408 and select one of the "Center channel" settings. If no channels are found using the center frequencies, zip and repost the logs.

I've updated my HDHR firmware to the final release hdhomerun_windows_20081209.exe
I deleted the Digital Cable.xml HDHR configuration file, set the application to GBPVR, unchecked "dynamic tuner allocation...", and rescanned. I found 100 channels as before.
I created an new qam.ini file with cneter frequencies using Qam.ini Manager.exe.

Did a scan in gbpvr's config.exe <map digital channels to EPG Channels>... Still no channels found. During the scan it did seem to find channels with strength and quality almost 100, but the channels did not appear in the list.

I've attached a zip of new log files.

Thanks

CAn you post the Digital Cable.xml for me? You'll need to zip it or rename it to a .txt file.

Same result as Jystta lots of channels tuned during the scan but none "found". One difference - I dont have a Digital Cable.xml file anywhere.

Since these most recent changes Tuner 0, which was tuning OTA channels successfully, is exhibiting the same behavior as Tuner 1 - lots of channels tuned during scan, but none "found".

Gort10, your issue is a little different. You are locking onto the signals but the reason GBPVR cannot find any channels is because you have low signal strength.
Code:
2008-12-11 11:12:17.796    VERBOSE    locked=1    present=1     [color=Red][B]strength=76[/B][/color]     quality=94
For QAM, you really need to be at about 90%. OTA can be a little less. If you have any splitters on your line, try removing them. You may need to get an amplifier and it should be rated for up to 1GHz.

Jsytta, it's possible that you are over amping your signal. If you have an amplifier, try removing it. If not, try adding a couple of splitters to the line and don't terminate the open ports.
Code:
2008-12-10 16:00:03.093    VERBOSE    locked=1    present=1     [color=Red]strength=99[/color]     quality=95
To test to see if it is over amped, run HDHomeRun Config (GUI), tune to channel 92 (you should have a clear QAM channel there) and watch the "Symbol Quality %" for about 30 seconds. It should stay constant at 100%. If it fluctuates, then the signal is over amped. If it doesn't fluctuate, let me know.
