enabling timeshifting buttons in Live TV?

I just moved my TV tuner to a computer running Vista. Now when I watch live TV, I'm only getting four buttons on screen: +, -, ||, X.

For every channel, I can't rewind the live video unless I press the "||" (pause) button first, then I get the extra buttons for timeshifting such as rewind and fast forward. But when I switch the channel, only the four buttons show up again. Isn't there a way to always enable the timeshifting buttons for each channel by default?

On the Misc tab in the config app. Untick "Use Live Preview mode if possible".

right! Now if switching channels were fast in this mode too, it'd be perfect.

The tick box doesn't just "enable the buttons", it forces GB-PVR to always work in timeshift mode. Channel changing will be slower as it has to do a lot more (create buffer files and so on), this is why the default is checked.
