The only other thing wrong with TS files is the screwy timeline seen when skipping forward or backwards. One of my files it thinks is93 hours long, others have similar troubles. If I skipping makes the current time very weird. Is this related to the problem noted elsewhere about GBPVR having trouble figuring out how long a TS file is? Certainly not a showstopper, but confusing all the same.

I'm wasnt aware of any remaining issues timeline issues that would account for this. For the most part reports have indicated the time line has worked well for people with recent versions of this file.
Are you able to reproduce it with a smaller chunk of this particular file? ie, a couple hundred MB or less.
ok, I'll see what I can do for a smaller file. But just to be clear, this isn't just a problem with this rogue test file. The H264 TS files seem to report that they are 10 minutes long, and FF is very flakey. I've a MPEG2 file that says its 97 hours long...its less than one, but at least it does skip forward without any real problem, and reports the right current time, I think.

I created two 3 min samples. One with H264 the other with MPEG2. Both report 3 mins as expected, even though their original files report 10m and 2:23h respectively (should be about 45-50m) . The MPEG2 file and all other MPEG2-TS files playback and FF/Rew without issue. The H264 has real problems when I try to skip 1min. It jumps ahead in random jumps (can't describe it any other way) and eventually when it stabilises and continues regular video playback the audio is miles out of sync. Unfortunately this 3min file is >400Mb and I'm not sure where I could post a file of that size.
Sorry, I dont have any upload facilities I can offer you, but if you do find somewhere you can make it available for download, I'm sure I'll be able to resolve the problem for you.
I've PMed you the location of the file. Hopefully you can d/l it.
Thankfully this problem is a minor irritation, I rarely FF/REW on films and TV programmes (pause works on both TS and H264 which I use far more often), and the misrepresentation of the total time isn't a biggie. It would be nice to get to the bottom of it, though you won't find the time issue with the example as that reports 3 mins correctly. Its only big files that it doesn't work with.
I downloaded it yesterday, but just tried it now. Unfortunately I cant see anything wrong with it. It reports the correct time and seems to play smoothly for me, and I can skip back/forward through the file without any issues.
