Decided to have a bit more of a play tonight and pulled out my old Twinhan DVB-S StarBox - surprisingly it was detected and setup without much hassle on Vista.

GBPVR detects it as available, so I setup Optus D1 (FTA) and some channels TV1,TV2,TV3 and C4, clicked 'Map to Digital'. It scans through but finds no channels. I had a quick look through the logs and it is getting 94% signal and 99% quality and is getting some kind of results/listings but all have a Video PID of 0.

Any hints/tips?

Logs attached.

Should also mention that it was working fine in the TwinhanDTV application - detected channels fine but was unable to display anything as it always had 'unable to connect filters' errors. Also, I have my dish cable split and feeding a sky unit and the twinhan box - sky is supplying power, twinhan is not.

I pulled out my old GBPVR box that still had XP installed on it - installed the Twinhan box and it works perfect in the Twinhan app but that app uses an older non-BDA driver.

When I installed the BDA driver, the newer application refuses to start saying the device is unsupported, and GBPVR 0.9x was still unable to detect any channels.

I found a little test app that came with the BDA driver that allows setting all the details, locking a freq and then selecting the Video and Audio IDs - It then proceeds to open an 'ActiveWindow' which is playing all black. I seem to remember this problem from a loooong time ago when I played with it - Im guessing its related to the problem now with GBPVR as well.

I can see in your logs that it is actually seeing all the channels, but for some reason it was unable to collect all the information about these channels so they werent returning in the list of channels. (had missing names and audio/video pids)

I'm not really sure what to suggest to resolve it. Are you sure you have good reception? The signal levels in the logs dont really tell me anything since lots of manufactures just return some hardcoded values if there was a signal lock.

I believe the reception is ok. As I said the cable is split to my sky box (which feeds another gbpvr pc) and the image is fine. In the twinhan app, It can scan and tune channels ok (although with another non-BDA driver).

Not sure if this is of any help but I saved the graph (which I believe was used in the channel scan). I noticed when I opened it on a different PC that it was different so I have taken a screenshot from the machine it was generated on.

Two of the filters are not connected. Microsoft DVBS Provider and GBPVR PSI Parser. The Parser can be linked to the PSI output of the demux.

What I did notice is that the DVBS Provider cannot be linked to the Antenna In Pin of the 7020BDA. Not sure if it should or is supposed to be.

Sorry, I dont know. Maybe you've got something wrong with the LNB settings.

You can ignore those could of filters not being connected when you tried loading the .grf file. This often happens with grf files. They were connected fine when the app was using it, but some of the filters can only be programmatically connected, and this doesnt happen when you load a .grf file.

Oh well - i gave it a shot just out of a boredom. Best I can figure it seems the 7021 (which is what I have) doesnt support the BDA driver, but the 7021A does.

Think I'll order a NOVA tomorrow.

I had the exact same symptoms as you (good signal and quality, but not finding channels). Running the batch file in the GBPVR folder to re-register all the plug-ins magically fixed the problem. Might be worth a try?

Installed a Nova-S+ today and it worked perfectly first time. About 100x easier than setting up my PVR150 for sky with hip etc.
