I know I am just a frustrated noob when it comes to this plugin but after scanning all of these posts and linked forums I am still as lost as when I started. Nobody has come close to giving any sound advice for my problem yet. Be aware there are several things that I don't understand. I am just looking to make my GBPVR record, which it does not work using my TV Card.

1) I have a Conexant Blackbird (Conexant 2388x Hybrid Tuner). I am only trying currently using the analog tuner part.

2) I don't clearly understand how to incorporate my GRF file in this plugin or adjust any of the other settings in order to make this work with my Conexant 2388x hybrid card. I know I can't be the only one who has this card

2) I am trying to understand how to properly build a graph using the GBPVR Writer as the output so I can have live a live preview, however I have no clue as to where to save the written file, what format it is supposed to be in, and how to make GBPVR use the file to preview/timeshift from it.

3) I am not seeing really anyone posting any of their graphs from graphedit to give me an idea where to start from, also noting that I am slowly learning how to use the graphedit program.

4) When I do construct some type of so called graph and I press play it does create the file that I named is not playable, even though a few seconds contains almost 20,000 kB of data.

What exactly am I doing wrong here? My eyes are so tired from forum scanning  and I am hoping someone might have any clue than can help get me started in the right direction.

Thanks

You are almost there, but must have 2 things in mind:

1) You must have a Codec Software Video Encoder AND Audio Encoder. There´s a list of some at the softwarerecorder post: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753

2) Do the sound come from your capture card (directly or redirected to the sound card "line in")? If so, then you´ll have to make a change on your graph to take the sound from the sound card mixer.

If everything else fails, give SoftwareRecorder a try, it´s easier to configure.

I atached my working graphs: graph.jpg (timeshift) and graphlive.jpg (livepreview)

Folks, I'm interested in getting this to work with my HDC4250 HD Cable Box (via Firewire). Are these grf files fairly standard? In other words, if someone has it already working with that device, should it work on any other?

I'm kinda getting dizzy trying to follow what you all are doing and am wishing for a simpler solution. Smile

Graphs are unique to each machine and cannot be transferred between; you can only "look at the picture" and copy it in Graphedit on your machine. Firewire is simpler that the software encoding that the posts above are discussing. Carpevideo provides a sample graph for recording that is pretty close to what you need. I believe it is labeled for a Motorola box, but it seems that all the firewire boxes are very similar, if not identical. As a minimum, your need the Firewire AV/C capture device, a TS parser (I think) (came with Nvidia PureVideo for me), and the GBPVR file writer to capture transport stream off the firewire. You can insert the MPEG2 demux and the Cyberlink or ATI mux between the parser and the file writer to convert to Program Stream. The ATI mux works far better for me. To preview, connect the output of the parser to video and audio decoders and their outputs to video and audio renderers.

Use insert filter button in Graphedit to find these filters; the Firewire capture is in capture devices, and the rest are in Directshow filters. You can right-click on a output pin and select Render Pin and graphedit will try to do the connections. Also, you can open a recorded file and select Render File and Graphedit will hook up the decoders, renderers, etc as best it can. You can then use this graph to connect to the Firewire to see if you can get preview working.

Here's Microsoft's "instructions" on Graphedit:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/...S.85).aspx

Search for posts by me for more info, that may be more correct. I'm just typing this off the top of my head.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply and info. Sounds like something I will eventually try. I'm really only interested in getting Live TV and MAYBE recording over Firewire from cable box. I have channel changing over firewire working now and this seems the next logical step so I can reallocate my HD-PVR elsewhere.
