brainwave --> how about generating a playlist file when you click the play/watch link. Then the browser can happily download the complete file and launch it with VLC, then VLC can get the direct url for the mpeg file Smile

I cannot for the life of me gain access to the web interface. My browser keeps telling me that the computer refused the connection. This is a clean install of .91.9 with the enhanced web admin copied into the web folder (Build 11).

I have disabled the firewall on both PC's and rebooted the HTPC. Logs don't show any errors... Any suggestions?

delete everything but the gbweb files from the bin folder, and restart the recording service.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, it didn't help. Mozilla returns a "The Connection was Refused" error and IE simply returns its default "Page Not Found" page...

Edit: I just happened to retry using the IP address of the HTPC rather than local host and it worked. Go figure.

Not as far as I can tell. There wasn't a single error in the gbpvrrecordingservice logs. Just verbose and info... Weird.

On a side note, this web interface is awesome! Now I can configure this thing while the wife watches TV! Man o man this is great!

It could be some weird guide data I had, as it seems to be working alright now. No big blue gaps in between programs. I'll keep an eye out on it, and see if I can find a pattern. If I find anything, I'll let you know.

Also, for those that are having problems getting connected, two things to do:

1. Delete the GBPVRRecordingService.exe file from the web\bin directory.
2. After updating, make sure you Restart your Recording Service, either from the GBPVR Tray or the Services panel.

I had problems bringing it up, and tracked it to an old version of GBPVRRecordingService.exe being in the directory. Prior to the 91 series you used to be able to just update the GBWeb.dll file and the ASPX pages, without having to restart.

build 12 is out:

New in 0.12 - April 3rd, 2005
- Play / watch / download link now generates a playlist file (.m3u) that browsers can happily completely download. The playlist has a single item that points to the large recording.

Note: watching the playlist in Windows Media Player or WinAmp may work, but it will put a large load on the gb-pvr machine. VLC is the preferred application, as it allows seeking to anywhere in the recording, and doesn't let the gb-pvr server get carried away with sending the data to the client.

Hey, I installed the new version, but I don't see any play/download link. Am I doing something wrong?

Otherwise, I love the enhanced web admin Smile

You will only see the option for recordings that have completed. Check the manage recordind page, there should be a big green play button. In the details popup there's a watch link next to the quality message. (If you see season recording options then it's not a recorded program)
