Is it possible using some of the MVP's transcoding on the fly technology to transcode NZ freeview audio to he-aac-lc to normal AAC or to MP3 on the fly.

You probably require a program change by sub I imagine to transcode .ts files

I use this to get sound via mencoder nightlies, to make sure the sound is there on the PCH, but there is a definite sync issue.

Code:
<Conversion name="Mencoder LATM Test" exe="mplayer\mencoder.exe" cmd="{SOURCE_FILE} -ovc copy -ffourcc h264 -oac pcm -of avi -o {DEST_FILE}_fixed.avi " targetExtension="" />

I was never able to get a profile that would create an MVP compatible format in real time.

Recent versions of vlc.exe can also be used to convert the file.

yes - I've played with vlc to play freeview, but never actually got a transcode to work.

But would you (sub) have to do something to transcode the file on the fly??

I havnt played around with it, so I'm not sure. If you can get a command line that does the job, and manages to do it in 'faster than realtime', then you might be able to config it to work.

ok, maybe I'll have a play.... not too good on vlc though, so don't hold your breath..

DVB-T not working on PCH is the only reason I have the PVR500 cards still and haven't completely converted to DVB-T

I've got this:
Code:
"d:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc"  -vvv "D:\temp\Piha Rescue_20090112_20002030.ts" --sout=#transcode{acodec=mp4a,ab=128,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ts,dst=d:\temp\piha.ts}}

But audio comes out really slow.
