Hi!

I wanted to test GB-PVR but had difficulties to install. I searched this forum but found nothing similar: Setup works fine at the beginning, copies files, registers stuff and the progress bar is rising. But when the progress bar nearly reaches its end it starts to shrink. All actions performed earlier are rolling back. All ends in a pop-up telling me that "installation ended prematurely because of an error".
Tried it on WinXP Home SP2 and WinXP Professional without SP. Same effect. .NET redistributable pack installed of course. Installed WinXPs are german, but language shouldn't have any influence I think.

Any ideas?

Thx in advance!

Well, downloading it again solved that issue. Funny! Sorry for bothering. Great software indeed. Tried myHTPC and MediaPortal before, but GBPVR seems to be my choice...

Sadly, I am having exactly the same problem trying to install version 1.3.11 . Downloading again has not worked for me (although I can't find a copy that is not on the GBPVR site...perhaps that one is corrupt ???) I desperately need this version as it fixes a problem described here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post318578 , which is plaguing me.

Please help!

try this:

When upgrading from 1.2.9 to 1.2.13, I had a similar issue. this cleared it.
open up a command prompt (start->run type CMD hit OK)

sc delete "gb-pvr recording service"

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=33744&page=2

then run the installer.

That did the trick. Now to go deal with the inevitable side-effects of a new installation.

I've made some progress here, in a way. It turns out that Graphrecorder IS responding to recording service events, and probably always was. What threw me is that the executables are now running invisibly. Turning the "Hide" option on or off in the config makes no difference whatsoever.

This is causing me no end of problems, as I am using a program that needs another program to be visible in order to capture its stream. Also, the streamer plays very loudly when it is invisible, despite being muted otherwise.

This problem occurred when I installed version 1.3.11, and did not revert when i reinstalled 1.3.7 nor went back to an earlier restore point.

OK, problem solved, in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=37457

It appears that the recording service resets itself to "invisible" after an installation. I don't know why mine was "visible" to begin with.

Now to reinstall my reinstallation. Determined to use the newest version!

When the app is installed, the recording service is always set to run in its own entirely seperate background session. An upgrade is just the same.

You can go into the windows->control panel->administrative tools->services, then view the properties of the GBPVR Recording Service, and enable the 'allow service to interact with desktop'. Microsoft recommends against apps using this, so its not enabled in a normal install.
