A couple of items that would be great to have to enhance recordings management.

1. Our recordings list is becoming large and unmanageable. It would be very useful to be able to setup multiple recordings folders and to be able to specify a recording folder at the time a recording is setup so that recordings can be grouped. eg. Childrens, Documentaries, Movies etc.

2. The titles on many TV Series change in the EPG each week which causes recurring recordings to fail. eg "Time Team: Castle Camelot", "Time Team: some dank swamp in the middle of nowhere". I am using a DVB-T card with the DVB EPG Broadcast.

It would be very useful if it was possible to edit the Title when a recording is setup and for the recordings tool to search for "Contains" rather than an "Exact match". "Exact Match / Contains" may need to be an option.

I have tried EWA but it would be much better if this could be done within the standard recordings tool rather than having to fire up another pc / utility / keyboard.

If the pointer jumped to the end of the title when editing we would use the remote to delete the unecessary characters and shorten the title search string.

We have GBPVR working as a standalone HTPC and it is pretty superb - but this would certainly make setting up recordings much more effective for us.

Please excuse me if I have missed a method for doing this - if so guidance would be much appreciated. Number 2 looks like it should be a fairly common problem - but I may have missed something.

a manual reoccuring recording would work fine for that rather than relying on EPG data if its that much of an issue.

Hi, I am using manual recordings for these shows at the moment. This wishlist item however would make it simpler to setup recurring recordings for these shows. And it has the advantage that if the timeslot changes the recording will adjust automatically. An editable title search string would probably be useful to other folk for other scenarios too. While setting up manual recordings for series that change title each week - will workaround the problem - this wishlist item would I think be an incremental improvement (to a sw package that is already very good !). I hope my input is useful. Perhaps others can comment on wether this would be useful or other ways to do this - there may be better ideas out there ! Ciao

XRECORD will record based on a partial search string which solves the issue of recording tv series where the title changes each week. It would be great if this feature could be added to the standard record screen.

(1) I kind of agree with this but for me, I don;t mind so much whether the recordings go into specific folders but I would really like to be able to view/group recordings based on genre.

(2) This "should" already be taken care of if the show title is Time Team and the Episode name is "Toga Town". But I have also seen instances where the EPG supplier merges the episode name into the title, so yes, a partial text search option would be good.

In fact I would ideally like to see some more of the EWA search capabilities included into the standard seach tool. Both partial text seach AND the ability to seach by both genre and rating. Then, it is easy to search for 4-5 * films. At the moment I use EWA to list all films and then I stroll through the, keeping an eye on the ratings score.

Good to see you can get Time Team down under. It's one of our favorite shows. :-)

I just use the normal gbpvr search screen and type **** to pick out the four star rated (and above) films. It will search for all substrings (but only in titles I think). Doesn;t have an AND option though

Are you using XMLTVGUI with it configured to add ratings as stars to the program details?

[edit] I just checked. I can;t even enter "*" in the search field in the standard search plugin.

I'm using xmltvgui, but the ***'s come from the Radio Times EPG and not added by xmltvgui. Odd about not being able to enter a star though???

yes very odd about my not being able to add *, unless it was a remote desktop issue.
I'll add it to the bottom of my list of things to look at one day. :-)

The rating does come from the radio times EPG, but I am almost certain that you have xmltvgui configured to add the ratings as **** to the title as well as adding "Film:" to the beginning. These are both tick-box options in the xmltvgui post_processing script called PrgDets.

You're right (of course), I double checked and yes the box was ticked (I had VNC'd into the test machine rather than the live machine).
