I have a PVR-150 and an HVR-1600 in my HTPC and I'm wondering if I will be able to use the digital tuner in the HVR1600 to tune all the channels now when the transition occurs.

I know that I can use the IR blaster as well as a STB to keep the PVR150 in service, but now that the HVR1600 can record multiple channels (and assuming that it can tune the digital channels once this transition occurs), I won't even have to use the thing.

So, sorry to ask such a seemingly obvious question, but I just wanted to ensure that I would still be able to use this setup once DTV rolls out.

If you are connected to cable, there will be no change for you (unless your cableco decides to make some change). Assuming you are connected to an antenna, your 1600 will work great to tune digital channels, but you'll only have one tuner at that point. You could theoretically get a converter box, then go into the analog half of the 1600 or into the PVR150, but I'd go with another digital ATSC tuner card or maybe even a dual ATSC tuner.

I've been using an HVR-1600 for ATSC recording for a while now. It's worked great in GBPVR so far -- I have a 50" antenna in my attic, though, so your results may vary...

Thanks for the replies. I'm connected to Comcast cable, so I guess that means I have nothing to worry about for the time being? I don't think that I'll ever have to use an antenna as the locally broadcast channels are also broadcast in HD through QAM on the cable line.
