I currently have 2 PCI pcr-150's that are very old. I am upgrading ym system and want new hardware to move away from PCI. I am looking at these 2 cards to give me the same ability to record 2 shows at one:

1. http://www.amazon.com/AVERMEDIA-MTVPEMCE...972&sr=8-1

2. http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-1213-Win...071&sr=8-2

Few questions:

1. First and foremost....anyone have experience with either and think one is better than the other...from what I gather they both provide the basic features, I am not worried about FM.

2. Could either card use the existing IR receiver and remote that came with my PVR-150?? so I don't need these bundle packs that come with a new remote??

3. Anyone know if both are supported "out the box" with GBPVR?

I have the 2250 and also tested the Avermedia for Microsoft (but had to send it back) and I like the 2250 better. Hauppuage has been awesome with updating drivers that help QAM work better.
I can't answer your #2 but for #3, yes, it works fine in GBPVR. I've had some problems with some of the drivers not getting QAM and why some drivers work for some and not others, I don't know but there is some discussion that Vista Media Center TVPack may be part of that problem.

I am a little confused, are you saying you ran both of these with MCE? Or the TVPACK is some sort of bundle with the drivers? I am sticking with XP by the way, unless someone has a reason that Vista is btter for GBPVR?

Thanks for the info.

I have the 2250 in the system listed in my sig but have another system I use for testing that I had the Avermedia in. The system with the Avermedia has only Vista (now Windows 7) on it but the system with the 2250 I have XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and the 2250 has performed well in all.
There are posts in the forum discussing some problems with the 2250 and GBPVR and some feel having Vista's TVPack add on to Media Center might, in some way, affect QAM.
I've had much better results with my 2250 and GBPVR in XP however, I rarely us XP now.

Awesome...sounds like the 2250 is going to be the way to go for me....now I just need to find out if the IR cable/sensor for my pvr-150's will plug right into it allowing me to keep my remote, and save money by buying the "oem version"

I'm not familiar with the PVR 150. Are you are saying you plug its IR sensor directly into the back of your card? I can tell you the 2250 doesn't have a port for that. The bundle for the 2250 uses a USB IR sensor.

No reason you couldn't leave a pvr150 in your system and still control gbpvr though it though.
