request1:

In Vista the photo screensaver works with shortcuts. So I made a folder called SCRNSVR and put a lot of shortcuts in it which point to actual photo folders. In that way I can easily make a screensaver.

The reason I like it is because my photo folder structure has a lot of folders. Some of them I want to have in a screensaver and some not. With a shortcut folder it works like a charm.

request2:

Also Vista plays AVI files in a folder. This is very nice because in my holiday folder there are a few short AVI movies of a ski holiday. It is nice to see them every now and often.

Maybe you can do something with these requests or maybe not. Thought you might want to have some user input...

Btw I like the program as it is.

Like you, I have a lot of photo folders and there are a few I didn't want included in Slide Show so I implemented a NoIndex system - if a photo folder contains a file called MLPnoindex.txt then the photos in that folder are ignored. You can change the NoIndex marker filename
Quote:<slideShowNoIndex>MLPnoindex.txt</slideShowNoIndex>
in MLPanelConfig.xml. Maybe that would help for the moment, but I'll add your shortcut idea to the wishlist.

I've also got a lot of short avi clips, but I had some problems playing them under GBPVR (probably missing codec stuff), so I put it on the back burner - but I'll have another look at it.

It's always good to get feedback and suggestions and it's great that it's working for you.

Am I being a bit thick here or something but can't you do this within the MLPconfig by pointing it to the folders you want to display from? Something like your shortcuts but in the config setting. ie.

‹slideShowDir>c:\mypics\fun|c:mypics\family|c:\mypics\morefun|c:mypics\morefamily|c:\morepics|d:\photos\mypics\fun</slideShowDir›

Although this has made me think of a new idea.....ACTCMS don't you just hate when that happens Big Grin.....how about user configurable slideshows that can be selected from within MLP so for when the guys come over for a beer you could select something like a girlie slideshow but when the mother'n'law is visiting something a bit more appropriate, get the idea? Thoughts?

Yep, that would do it too... but it could become quite clumsy if you wanted to include say 20 or more dirs.

I don't have any girlie pics..., but user selectable slideshow sets would need to use something like shortcuts or an MLPslideshowset.txt sort of thing so that folders could be grouped together... However, it is a good idea (it might be nice to have seasonal slide shows, one for Christmas, another for holidays - or perhaps themed slidehows), so it's now on the wishlist...

Actually, it was Jaggy who mostly wrote the manual, so don't beat yourself up about it.

ACTCMS, did you ever resolve the issues with incremental mode on the MVP? I hope to release something this week for the PCH that permits the GBPVR to run on top of mp3 audio.

BTW here is the link to a live screensaver for the PCH for one of the Internet Radio user pluging, it pulls random web images and overlays the Now Playing. This is what I was trying to accomplish before but it isn't really necessary now.

Incremental Updates is on my todo list. I searched through the forums a month or so ago, but I couldn't find much info on how it works or how to implement it - I did find one post from sub which talked about hashing, but it was just after Christmas and it was a bit over my head, so any help would be appreciated. sub did point out that you could also specify incremental updates on the MVP, so I've no excuse not to get back to it.

Thanks, I figure you just need to find out how to invalidate the whole screen.
