new Wiki page: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/Net2hipsend
For everyone who has trouble blasting with HIP and hipsend n hipwsend, try this one...
It does the same thing but uses the http server built into hip to communicate with.
It also has added benefit of not needing 'Interact with desktop' checked on gbpvr service.. so troubles blasting because of Rec. service logon are no more!

From my use, it is also much faster and doesn't suffer that '3rd number pause' that seems to plague hipwsend...[where 1st 2 numbers are fast, third is after about a sec. delay]
Also, it can be used from another machine if need be...Smile
Only requires a single localhost http port to be opened,so no firewall issues, and configures just like any other blaster .exe.
Any open port may be used..8084 is just a suggestion..

Quote:Syntax: [note:changed default server to 127.0.0.1 and port to 8084]
net2hipsend 1-4digit-ch# [delay-msecs(0)] [servername(localhost)] [port(8084)] [remote suffix(001)]
[in [] optional, defaults in ( )]
Channel # is only mandatory paramater.

examples: "net2hipsend 107" or "net2hipsend 107 500" or "net2hipsend 107 500 127.0.0.1 8090 002"
options must include all preceding options, so to specify port, you must also specify all preceding options, delay only needs the channel # before it..
In config for normal use on local machine, port 8084 and no delays, choose net2hipsend.exe as executable, and " {channel}" for params with both boxes underneath unchecked..ok out of config..

to setup HIP: go to preferences and turn on web server, set 8084 as port, and browse to the HIPDefault.htm under HIP\http\ and click ok...
[assuming you already have the blasting ir commands learned in hip, tested inside HIP to light-up blasters]
Just click on http://localhost:8084/index.htm for a nice screenshot and manual controls..
If you don't see that page then a firewall is probably getting in the way or try a different port..[like 8086]

The remote suffix is the second part of the ir blast command's numbers, eg for #1 in hip it's 1.001 for most, with the number 1 and a .001 suffix, adjust yours if you have different suffix on your blast commands to have multiple blast remotes.
[The vast majority of users will have 001, only multiple blasting remotes would have more]

I still need to make a wiki page eventually..lol

my channel changes are so fast now, they are done before the video displays even! Big Grin
[it doesn't use DotNet or anything bulky, just Autoit3 script, easily decompilable into source..]
if you'd like to take it and run with it and make it better, by all means please do..Smile
just leave it de-compilable or include the source...

EDIT: Changed default port to 8084 to avoid conflicts with EWA web streaming, and removed logging to re-enable use from any account..
P.S. no longer beta, works fine for months, few user problems..
now even faster as i just get the size of the web page, not the data itself, so even errors on web page won't trip it up. Smile

Less HIP Setup:
Just confirmed, you don't even have to setup the numbers like with hipwsend, just setup the blast cmds in "Edit IR Commands" and start the web server and you're good to go...Big Grin
so it's just a tad bit easier to setup..Smile

Edit IP's:
Always enable 127.0.0.1 [localhost]
If it's left blank, it's open to anyone...INCLUDING THE INTERNET

leading to a security risk, as reboot and shutdown and file execution are available commands..
Enabling just 127.0.0.1 locks out everyone except for localhost.
If you need access from other computers on your network, add your subnet as well...[eg:192.168.1.###]
but 127.0.0.1 is all that's needed for local access...

i may add ability to use the display name of remote, but i think the numbers work well as-is...[almost everyone's will be named similarly, like #.001, unless you have more than one blast remote setup]

Any Feedback Welcome...

EDIT: also included pvrx2 setup file and new key maps for MCE remote and MVP 45 button remote..just place files in HIP dir and select pvrx2.exe at top and check 'include predefined keys', then import key map for your remote and you'll be set for input..Smile

cool, just let me know if you have any difficulties setting it up...

i tried it on a fresh install of HIP, and it works even if the front page is blank! [no app setup even]
but you probably have all that setup already if using hipsend...Smile
only thing you have to check is that the irblast numbers match..[10.001,etc]

feedback on speed is welcome too as i'd love to know if it's as fast for others as it is for me...
[i'm seeing a noticable difference in speed]

i *was* gonna post it on HIP site but the silly forum website seems to be down since yesterday! [http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?showforum=44]

A snap to setup. Has been working without any problems and is much quicker.

Thanks!

excellent...i just wasn't sure if the speed i got would be same for all..
cuz now there's a bit higher WAF, i don't see the channel changes so it's more like a direct sat box experience...
just always seemed something wrong with hipsend...knew it was slow, but assumed most of it wasn't it's own fault...thought it was waiting on other things to complete before it blasted...
but apparently not!

I'll ask HIP author who made Hipwsend, cuz it sure seems so slow like it was made with dotnet...

a couple of hundred channel changes and a couple dozen recordings and so far, not a single missed change...Big Grin
i'm using 0 delay...i used to have to use 600 msec with hipsend..dunno why now...lol

I have a working HIP but got sick of the "3rd button problem" - I downloaded your stuff and did the changes for the server (see screen shot) - Is there any other settings I must change to make the url work?

also have to change the .exe blaster string in config..
if you use port 8080, then only use " {channel}" as param for exe in config..
[make sure to select "net2hipsend.exe" as .exe channel changer]

of course there's allowing it to communicate thru the firewall...but that should be it...
although you may have an open web server already on that port [8080] [lots of routers use 8080 for external admin]
if so, just try another port...set port on hip, then add params in config..eg: " {channel} delay server port "
so for server name "pvr" and port 88, use " {channel} 0 pvr 88" for params in config...Smile

i wouldn't add anything in ip's except 127.0.0.1 unless you have special needs to blast from another machine..
127.0.0.1 lets the local machine blast and everything else is blocked...normal operation for most..
otherwise, use a subnet [192.1.1.###] type mapping for your whole subnet, otherwise you'll have to set a static ip on other machines and specify each individually...

added new pic above to show config settings...Smile
pic below is example of all default params used...replace any you wish to change..

Reporting back after a couple of weeks. Still working flawlessly. Hasn't missed a single channel change.

good to hear...me too...love the responsiveness..Smile
don't know why i didn't look into it sooner, there's a wealth of goodies available with the web server...and so much simpler to implement...Big Grin
just 20 or so lines of code using simple native calls, and i might even be able to make it faster!

i just knew i could change channels much faster with the native remote, so i knew it could accept faster calls, and that darn 3rd number pause boinked several recordings when it was idle for long periods...
i verified the problem isn't with the hipsend, it's windows sendkeys interface...
i implemented same procedures with autoit and had same exact results...
[tho it may still be a HIP thing, hipsend isn't the culprit..]

a few more users and i'll put up a wiki page...
i'll be making some improvements soon for a final build....syntax may change a bit..
[just so you don't have to specify options in order, etc]
