ok, i removed all lines in the .txt file except the first and ran the program to create an iso. the test.mpg file is complete, all 2.5 hours of the movie (minus the first commercial). also the video_ts is complete with the whole movie. of course it wouldn't burn to a dvd now since its over 5GB.

Sorry for the disjoint replies but try what I asked with modifying the adddvntscmencoder file which adds logging and then writes a log file.
Use all the commercials that you had.

It does sound like the .edl processing is going awry somehow. Hopefully running the above test will show something.

Hmm that is the only msglevel that outputs the edl info.
Could you put the file on rapidshare or some free download site?

Great. I'm out of town again this weekend so it might take a few days to get this looked at.

I'm posting this problem to the mencoder mailing list to see if anyone there can help.
Which capture card are you using to create the mpg?

Any chance you can try running stattik's scripts and see if it works to do the commercial cut there? It should have the same result since they both use mencoder, but just in case he uses a different command line it might be worth a shot.

The mencoder mailing list suggested removing the -ss %2 -endpos %3 from the command line. This is in the adddvdntscmencoder.cmd file.

If the first test doesn't work then, as a second test add -hr-edl-seek to the command line. I'm not a fan of the second option since Stattik has had some trouble but please give it a shot too. Let me know what happens with these two tests.

its a pvr-150. I'm not sure what you mean by run stattik's scripts. just transcode the file with skiptool?

i'll try the tests you suggest when i get home from work this evening.
