Sub or whoever, I have decided to record in mpeg from TV rather than TS as the manual convert to AVI does not seem to work. I made the change to microsoft DVR-MS in misc2 in config but the recordings are still in mpeg TS format. Any reason for this or have I missunderstood the process?

Thanks.

untick multirecord maybe
dvr-ms is not mpeg by the way to record in mpeg you need the ati-mux or cyberlink-mux

NZ DVB-T video is H.264 (mpeg4) - I saw sub mention in another post that this will always use the TS mux to record.

In answer to your question about dvr-ms, it's part of the ASF spec. (as are avi and wmv and others). Dvr-ms is a container for mpeg2 video and mpeg1 or mpeg2 audio.

Cheers,
Brian

The above is correct. H.264 will always record into a .ts file. You cant have this type of video in a .mpg or .dvr-ms file.

Thanks for the clarification.
TS it will have to be then. Sub, I used a free TSconverter application to try and convert TS files and successfully converted a test UK TS file supplied in a 'how to' guide. When I tried a TS file generated by GBPVR the AVC2AVI process could not open the TS file. Is this because DVB-T TS files differ from others? It would appear that TS files are not strickly one particular format and this application cannot handle the NZ kind.

Thanks
Duncan

Most apps dont like the new HE-AAC audio format used in New Zealand. Only a few apps like GB-PVR can handle it. The UK just uses the good ole MPEG1 Layer 2 audio which pretty much everything can handle.
