Pls review logs - Random MVP restarts/Failed to Locate GUI Server

MVP seem to restart randomly when watching a recording giving a 'Failed to locate GUI server' before starting again. The restart happened approximately at the 7:12pm time.

I have been having this problem for a long time with different GBPVR versions. Can someone review the logs to check if you can spot a problem?

I just re-installed the latest GB-PVR (v1.3.11) last week and the problem persists. It was a fresh installed.

The file I was testing GB-PVR with is: MotoGP.2007.Round18.Spain.Valencia.Race.PDTV.Eurosport.XviD.English-asd.avi

I am surprised that you get that message with mvpmc since it is almost bulletproof unless the video is really corrupt. Maybe confirm it is running by hitting Go the Back

Note that because the mvp doesn't support avi I only support problems like this with mpeg files. Try converting the file to a mpeg manually and the try to play it.

It happens with .mpg files as well. I ran the following .mpg recording afterwards:Glenn Beck_20090226_17001800.mpg

Writing this away from the house...

I am a little :confused: now.

- I noticed the post is on the 'MVPMC dongle' sub-forum. Was it moved or did I click on the wrong forum? I meant to post on the MVP & NMT main forum. Does it matter? Should the post be move there?

- Pardon my inexperience. I have not done anything with the dongle file. I only installed the GB-PVR program and ran the application with the default dongle file. Should I do something with that?

- :o I don't quite understand how to 'comfirm it is running by hitting Go the Back' and how to 'confirm you could get to the mvpmc menu[]'. Can you explain further? Do you mean the original MVP menu center that came with the Hauppage box or the GB-PVR menu center? I can get to the GB-PVR menu on both the computer (WINXP Home) and the TV. I am not running the MVPMC player from mvpmc.wikispaces.com.

Sorry, I thought you thought you were running mpvmc. Since you aren't and the problem I see is a potential network problem that emulation mode can handle (slow response to a heartbeat) it might be worth looking into. It might be worth checking out to see if it helps.

I'll try that this afternoon and post results later. I read also on another post that it could be an issue with long filenames. I'll check into that as well.

Oh, ok.

Uploaded the new dongle2xa following the instructions. Noticed the MVPMC loading sequence and played one recording. The MVP restarted after ~20 minutes. This time the recording just froze. I could press buttons on the remote (blue, yellow, back/exit) and see the light blinking but nothing happened. Then the MVP restarted and took me back to the MVP menu.

That is better since it is how I expect mvpmc and GBPVR to work together. For whatever reason the heartbeat (same problem as above example) is lost and in this case the server and not the client kills the connection.

OrakelJos has put a lot of effort into looking at a related problem at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39714 and you might want to check on his findings.
