Unable to Access drive on Networked PC

I have GBPVR running on PC1 and I also have PC2 on my network.
PC2 has two drives on it (Drive K and drive L) that I have always been able to access from GBPVR.
Since installing v1.3.11 (although this may be unrelated) I can still access Drive K but am unable to access Drive L from the Video Library menu. When I click on it, it just returns to the main menu.
I can access both Drive K and Drive L via Windows from PC 1 (the server PC).
GBPVR is logged on as a User account.
Drive L on PC 2 is shared with full access privileges.
I can add a subfolder of Drive L in config and GBPVR is able to access it.

I have tried removing the share and reapplying it, changing the User account and deleteing the 'Directory' in config and adding it again.

Although this is not causing horrendous problems it is an annoying quirk and any suggestions would be apprecaited.

Have you setup the directories in config to point to the Windows mapped drive letter?

i.e. if your network share is mapped to K: in windows have you used K: in config?

You have to point config to the network path e.g. \\mshome\computername\ rather than the mapped drive letter otherwise you get strange results like this.

Thanks for the reply Elmo. I have indeed used the network path. As an example in config.xml I have:

Video~\\John\VIDEO| which doesn't work

but

Winter Skills~\\John\VIDEO\Winter Skills| does work.

where John is the computer name and VIDEO is the drive name.

I can even delete just the 'Winter Skills' bit and it stops working. Add it back in and it works again.

With a new installation you need to change the "Log on" for GBPVRRecordingService to the user you are running under. You have to stop the recording service first. Searching on the forum doesn't seem to find the old threads. (and I've posted in several of them and I can't find them) This could be something sub might want to put in the survival guide for each release. If you have custom recording resolutions those also reset with a new installation.

Thanks for the reply Zaphod but I have already done that. As I said I am able to access other drives on the networked computer and even subfolders of the drive I'm unable to access. I've tried everything I can think of but maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Thank you all for help and suggestions however I have now solved the problem. I happened to notice a shortcut folder, on the drive I was unable to access, called 'Network - Shortcut'. It didn't have any target attached to it and I have no idea how it got there but once I deleted it I could then access the drive from within GBPVR! If I restored it there was no access again. I'm sure there is a logical explanation?! :confused::confused::confused:
