Setting up Hauppauge PVR 150 blaster

Hi All, hope someone can help.

I have the lastest version of GBPVR 1.3.11.

I have set up the card under config and set-up the channel sources, the same channel source being the same for all the channels from my STB.

e.g.

BBC 1 - 63
BBC 2 - 64
SKY 1 - 68
SKY 2 - 68
SKY SPORT 1 - 68

You get the picture. Then I have mapped the channel numbers for the channel sources e.g.

BBC 1 - 101
BBC 2 - 102
SKY 1 - 106
SKY 2 - 107
SKY SPORT 1 - 401

etc.

But when I change channel the blaster transmits to the STB the channel source. E.G. I type 106 using the remote and and 068 is transmitted to the STB using the blaster.

Is this correct ?

Or should should I have setup the STB channels as the source being AV input rather that RF Antenna, then set the channel sources appropriately. I would rather not do this. So is there a way to transmit the channel numnber rather than the channel source number.

When it tries to change to channel, it'll transmit the channel number shown in the capture source channel list. This number is what STB knows the channel as.


When you type a channel number in live tv, you can use whatever number you want though. This number is set on the 'Channels' tab, and is what the user knows the channel as.

Cheers Sub, will change the Card source from RF Antenna to S-Video from the STB, and change the channel source numbers to match the channels on the STB. Will leave the 'Channels' on the channels tab as it.

This is no great shakes, as RF Antenna channels will be discontinued soon, and going digital. At that point into may consider getting a DVB-T/S card, something like a Nova card.

I use RF from a Sky box. I use the 'fixed channel' method and it works fine. You put the STB channel in the source device setup page and then for each channel you put the Sky channel number.

I think where you have been going wrong is having two "sources" of signals setup as one.

If you want normal terrestrial BBC etc then you have to setup a second source for normal RF tuning. This works fine, and is what I use.

Did try this :-

Configured XMLTV to get the terrestrial channels e.g. BBC1/2, ITV. C4, C5 into antenna.xml

Configured XMLTV to get SKY channels into stb.xml

In GBPVR config, cleared down all channels, set up a RF Channel source and set the listing get from antenna.xml. Update channels etc and set channel number, all fine.

Then tried to add another source, but using SVideo, but could not get it to add this source.

Was considering putting my PVR250 card in and configuring this for terrestrial channels and PVR150 for stb channels.

But this a weekend job, when I have a bit more time to mess around.

I see 'Fixed-Channel, External Source' and set the 'Constant Channel' to the rf channel of my STB and then configure the channels.

Here's a couple of screen shots of my RF bbc/itv etc setup and my RF fixed channel Sky setup. They both use Alan Birtles xmltvgui for the radio times guide and teh same data file.
You have to make sure that only those channels available are ticked for each source.
My sky box set for channel 34 I think in the screen shot.

I use RF because my server is remote and I use a digi-eye remote blaster receiver and it works via RF2 on the sky box.

I see, on 'RF 1', you have just disabled all of the STB channels and on SKY only enable the STB channels. This set-up is better, allows me to record anything on the 'RF 1' and directly watch something on the SKY box. I see you are like me, C5 will have to be on the SKY box, as the RF channel 5 reception in my area is poor.

This set-up is better, allows me to record anything on the 'RF 1' and directly watch something on the SKY box.

I don't get to record much on RF now as most of it now gets recorded on the DVB-T tuner(s) and quality is probably a touch better.

I'll be glad when Belmont ups the power on freeview. I couldn't get Ch5 at all until I got a wideband aerial.

Going to replace mmy arial in the summer for a DVB certified one. I know the coax is Ok as I replaced it all a couple of years ago.

What DVB-T card would you recommend, just think for the future when terrestrial gets turned off and the PVR150 is only good for the STB box and channel changer.
