So basically GB-PVR is a no-go for foreigners who need subtitles on Live TV? Sad
GB-PVR running on a PC used to show DVB subtitles, but that got broken in some build along time back and I've never found the time to fix it. Its not a hot topic around herem probably only mentioned about once every six months, so hard to give it priority over other stuff I need to work on.

The PCH does show DVB Subtitles regardless. Thats a different issue.

This looks like a pretty nice client to me: http://www.slashgear.com/acer-aspirerevo...op-0840470 (dual core atom, nvidia ION chipset, HDMI output)

Subs link looks good to me too. As a point of reference for this design, I own a netbook (MSI WIND) with a single core atom and a low end GMA950 integrated card, Windows XP home, and I can play 720p H.264 material using the processor power and the CoreAVC codec and runs smooth at about 80%-90% CPU. That new one will be dual core, probably a more pepped up Ghz too (mines 1.6GHz) and it will have an Nvidia card in it for some possible hardware acceleration.

It can't play 1080p though - too much for it.

However, if you need something soon the 780/790G AMD boards are most excellent - I have one for my server (see signature for that build). I don't run the HA because it was more trouble than it was worth so everything is on processor using CoreAVC but I still have plenty to spare. The case in my signature is also one of the smaller ones in a cheaper price range on NewEgg that I could find at the time if you are interested. It's very boxy, but not huge or anything. Even the fragbox looking form factors are pretty long so I went with that one.

Like has been said, you could also go with the popcorn hour but I don't have any experience with it to give you. I do know some of the key things I would like like comskip would be unavailable though.

hope that helps..

From what I've read, these new Nvidia ION chipsets are pretty capable, and can do 1080p playback using the MPEG2/H.264 acceleration hardware.
